Anheuser Busch - Victoria, strong blond

330ml can served in a tulip. 27/11/2024 is stamped on the bottom of the can. Brought to me by a Belgian friend a couple weeks ago.

Pours a clear bright yellow, big fluffy head, thick clumpy lacing. Smell is, kind of surprisingly, more of a lager/bread yeast than anything else. Light earthy vibe.

Taste is moderate honey and grain sweetness, moderate earthy hops bitterness. Leans more toward the sweetness side. Want there to be something just a bit funky or spicy in there, but not finding it.

Mouthfeel is lightish and pretty clean (particularly at 8.5%). Overall...it's not bad, and it's almost really good. Little adjustments would have a big effect, for me.

Another Super Bowl Square beer from @LehighAce06 Thanks!

Pizza Boy Sunny Side Up Double Coffee Oatmeal Stout, 11.0% ABV; 4.22 overall

Pours an effervescent cola/mahogany color with rapidly disappearing tan head. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Coffee, vanilla, loads of coffee once warm

T: Follows the nose, some cocoa as well along with dryness up front. Sweet cream, vanilla & coffee as this beer warms up. Finishes a little dry with coffee, and sweet vanilla cream

MF: Medium body, low carbonation, pretty warming

Super Solid coffee forward take on the style, drinks pretty easy despite the heft

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

I worked a double today at my old job (I'm sticking around for a couple months on weekends because my new job only pays once a month, and I've been told the last week of May that I've worked is going to be folded into the paycheck I'll get at the end of June...:smirk:). The work day started with brilliant sunshine and few clouds. By the time I got off this evening, it was dark and steadily raining. I think the temperature reached somewhere in the low to mid-60s.

In light of having landed a job that will give me as many hours as I want, starting with slightly better pay and having real benefits, for pretty much the first time in my life, I dug out this can that I purchased months ago at Lumberbeard Brewing. Tritception is difficult to categorize. The brewery itself, on the can label refers to the beer as being both a "barrel aged strong ale brewed with triticale grain" and a "triticale wine aged in triticale whiskey barrels." Triticale being a wheat-rye hybrid grain (created, iirc, in Ritzville, Washington, about 60 miles southwest of me), I suppose one could also call it a wheatwine, or even a ryewine.

Whatever you want to call it, it was delicious. Sweet, but not cloying. It's definitely not a hoppy tasting beer at all. The grain being spotlighted and the barrels are the star of the show. Despite the monstrous abv, it was not particularly "hot", although there was definitely a warming alcohol sensation deep in the background. When you get right down to it, it's rather devastating to drink, and should be left strictly as something to drink as a dessert or nightcap. Or, as in my case, as a beer to be consumed as an act of celebration.
    Cheers!
