Recently grabbed a 19.2oz from HEB for the steep price of $5.79. I immediately got an orange soda vibe and read it contained artificial flavor. Too pricey and too fake for me. Can grab tall cans of the national and Texas IPA players for under $3.

    Brewers notes :
We’re pleased to introduce to you our newest smoked bock—Beast of the Peak! Utilizing maple smoked malt from our good friends at Maine-based Blue Ox Malthouse, Beast of the Peak is brewed with a complex mash schedule and lagered for six weeks. Medium bodied and highly drinkable, Beast of the Peak offers notes of doughy bread, caramel, and campfire smoke on the aroma. It additionally showcases the exceptional flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, maple syrup, and raisins. This singular beer may be enjoyed on those cooler spring and summer nights in the company of those you care about, be it at home, by the lake, or just sitting at the campfire. Prost!

Chilled 16 0z can poured into a willi becher glass , reddish brown, mahogany liquid , capped by a creamy one finger taupe foam cap, good retention, good lacings

    Aroma is sweet smoke malts

Taste is smoky smoked smoke, sweet malts

    Smooth and creamy

Good beer , pairs well with Bbq chicken for tonight’s dinner

I'm not done yet either @Roguer, I'll join you with another beer from @snaotheus to close out the weekend. Always excited to try any Machine House, tonight's victim is another Bitter of theirs.

Machine House - Best Bitter (4.2%)

Pours a mostly clear, yet chill hazed, copper; vigorous pour leads way to nice dirty white head; nice film persists with minor lacing present.

The nose is leafy dry and earthy hops couple with some nice toast laden malt, light yeast fruit character.

The taste leans more into the malt with the hops more laying onto this base, but they are ever present, yet balanced; lightly toasted whole grain bread; leafy hops finish with some resin quality.

Body is every so soft; light and easy drinking, much like any well made English beer this has a delicate soft carbonation present; there is pleasant, leaning toward moderate grassy bitter finish.

This is really nice beer, something I've come to expect from this brewery, thanks to you Ryan.

Been a great weekend and this week is the last week of school, all half days except Monday. My favorite time to be a teacher, when the summer anticipation is at its highest point. See you all next weekend, have a great night everyone :beers:

...aroma is a nice mix of floral earthy honey, mild citrus, grain and cereal. More complex than im describing but overall nice
..taste is dry, sharp, floral earthy honey minus the sweetness somehow. Grain, toasted grain and cereal follow.

    From a bottle dated 2023.
Pitch black pour with a brown head.
Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg on the nose.
Taste is a good mix of cinnamon. The cinnamon seems to be a bit stronger to me. The pumpkin flavors are added to by notes of chocolate, toffee form the malts. These flavors work very well together.
The body is decent. Very smooth. The cinnamon really lingers and warms my throat.
Even in the summer, this is a great beer.

This is likely all for the weekend. Cheers.

Appearance: Clear pale yellow, ok head.

Smell: Mild fruitiness, bit of hay.

Taste: Light, grains, mild light fruitiness, light bodied. Finishes very dry with mild grassiness.

Overall: I'm not a huge kolsch fan, but this one from Schell is pretty interesting. Much drier and less fruity than other examples in my opinion. Interesting change of pace for a “light” beer.

Well, you know how you make plans and God just laughs and laughs? Today was one of those days for me.
Went to help my stepson replace the water heater in his mobile home. 8 freaking hours of dealing with old heaters that wouldn’t drain (seriously, we hooked up the hose to the drain valve and nothing, and I mean nothing, came out.
It rather went downhill from there. After we managed to get the new heater installed, none of our connections leaked but an old pb pipe burst, in a hidden location that took way too long to find. So tomorrow I got to go replace pb pipe with PEX and allow the man to take a shower again.
But tonight I needed a beer. Found this one at a “MegaBev” but have no idea how long it has been there. Can’t be too long as Arvon still self distributes and that location is only a year open, but who knows. Not I.

I had the BA version of this a while ago and thought it was pretty good. This is good, but not as what it is labeled as.
Actually, as a coffee stout, it’s very good. Loads of coffee and roasted malt with a bit of bitterness (from coffee or hops I couldn’t tell) but no vanilla did I taste. And here I was worried about too much sweetness. No problem there.
The feel is lightly viscous, appropriate for the style.
OA, for the price point, I would vastly prefer Narwhal or Old Rasputin. But Arvon has it in their heads that they can charge whatever they want and people pay for it. Which may well be true. But I don’t know if I will continue to pay for that privilege as I know others that are better. (I keep hoping a local brewery will make the high level of beer that I know is possible, but it’s all just glimpses)
Anyway, good evening, happy NBS, and cheers!

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

This weekend was the first weekend where the highs reached at least 80° on both Saturday and Sunday.

After work at my soon-to-be-old job, I ventured out to Community Pint, where I had my first "Leichtbier".
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/36949/705266/?ba=woemad#lists
Brewed with spelt, it was quite flavorful for something clocking in at 3.5%. Also, the name Marked For Death is kind of badass.

Today's post-work new beer was a hazy DIPA and that I mostly bought for it's Star Wars pun name:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63619/629197/?ba=woemad#lists
Pleasant, but was a little bland.

I'll probably be going to bed fairly early tonight, as I have to get up early to take my car in for some work, and then go to my new job, where I'll be working until quite late at night, so no more beers for me, new or otherwise.
    Cheers!

Thanks for talking one, or should I say two glasses, for the team. I can drink Coors Banquet in a pinch. As for Bud Light, I'd rather die of thirst. But I do not remember ever picking up apple in that one, or banana in Coors for that matter.

    Hello Late Night NBS.
Not much to add here, but I did put it in the DB. New brewery for me.
Annabelle by La Tara Brewing in Norwalk, CA.

Pretty. White sudsy head dissipates quickly. Low retention.
    Nose is a tad sulphuric.
Flavor does not really follow the nose. Lightly sweet yet dry.
    Mouthfeel is decent for style.

Didn't love this one, but was glad the nose didn't seem to affect the flavor.
