Thanks Jon. Things are well. Looking forward to the rookie camp games between the Leafs and Habs.

You’ll be happy to know that sports radio talk up here is all Marner talk all the time! Will they extend him? Will they let this go to free agency? Is there a trade where they can get equal value back? Rest assured, it is well covered!!

I'm hoping I can catch clips of those games on youtube, I won't be able to watch till preseason starts on espn + app.

I do a google new search about every other day, to see if there's any news on that front

My favorite day though was when Matthews finally got the "C", shocked me and came out of nowhere on that random August day. It's what needed to happen I think but I really thought they'd wait till Tavares was gone, big move by him on that one and perhaps he's thinking of wanting to stay and do whatever it takes for the team.

Also hoping Robertson finally gets a fair shot under Berube, if not I'll remain a fan of his wherever he ends up; love his never give up attitude, dude has put up with a lot IMO.

Was that the DeCicco's in Ardsley? I know there are a bunch of them scattered around Westchester, but that's the one I go to when up there. Fantastic place, and their beer department would be all I'd ever need.
Curios if the other locations are as good.

Toppling Goliath Mosaic Mamba DIPA ( Mosaic & Galaxy Hops ), 8.5% ABV; 4.19 overall

Pours a very hazed gold with one finger of cream-colored head, once the pour settles down. Average-ish head retention & lacing

S: Mangoes, passion fruit, oranges, nose opens up once warm

T: Follows the nose, limes dryness & pineapple up front. Limes, oranges, pineapple & dryness as this beer warms up, some passion fruit as well. Finishes with pineapple acidity, pomelo, pronounced dryness & passion fruit

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation, lovely balance, a little acidity here ( works )

Easy drinker for the ABV, another nice hazy from these guys

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

Today I'm digging through my massive CD collection. I'm purging what I can't make a case for continuing to own and packing up the rest, as I'm moving two weeks from today to an abode about 5 miles up the hill from where I reside now. Although it's a nicer place in every other way, and so close to the job I took up back in May that I can walk to work in all weather, it's about 100sq feet smaller than my current digs, so I'm having to get rid of a lot of stuff. Amazing what you can accumulate over 22yrs.

Today, I'm having a ridiculously drinkable Festbier from Lumberbeard:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/58538/715757/?ba=woemad#lists
Malt forward, but with a light, floral hop character, this beer goes down ridiculously easy for something almost 6% alcohol. If drinkability was still a score on the BA review scale, it would be a 5.

Might be back with something else new tomorrow. For now, it's back to work.

My son and I are trying Notch Brewing's Garageland IPA. After someone here (sorry I do not recall who) mentioned Notch was shipping their beers, I placed an order. Reasonable shipping. Very good beer.

Lots of posts to catch up with. Went with a Head Hunter last night as I wanted to give someone else a chance to open this weekend, and I enjoyed @Beersnake 's open, thank you for opening the Weekend.

Going with the first of two "drink fresh" styles from Micah @GreenBayBA , with the other two planned for the Fall. This can is undated, but likely from late Spring / early Summer, saving the dated can for tomorrow. This one is from 1840, which I've received in prior exchanges including an excellent collaboration with Eagle Park from Dan Mullens @Danmullens1 last year.

Full review linked above. Into the second half at this point, really like the bursting fruit bouquet lead by citrus, with nice peach, grapefruit and melon backing. Very gentle carbonation, drinks easy first sips than steps on the gas, meeting perhaps exceeding the high ABV. My overall impression is this is one of the best NE style DIPAs I can recall trying this year. This beer held up very well, though would revisit with if a beer within the first several weeks yielded even better results. My candy ass one beer a day at home per day is the reason for the delay - finishing off the rest of the trade beers before my Vegas trip near month end.

Micah is very generous with the beers he shares and trades, and this another great example. Thank you so much, and see everyone tomorrow with another NEIPA from Wisconsin, this time from a new to me brewery out of De Pere.

I need your help, BA!. I can't seem to find the name of this beer! A friend gave this to me and didn't know what it was. This is a collab between Jester King and Weathered Souls. A Imperial stout aged in Willett rye barrel with peanut butter brownies, blackberry and raspberry jam. Double barreled in a Maker's Mark barrel that previously held mead by Meridian Hive. 13.1% ABV. No date. I'm guessing it might be a few years old. Any ideas what it is???

    Regardless, here's my review.

Pours VERY thick motor oil black. No head. The nose is black licorice, honey, peanut butter cup, rye barrel, booze, milk chocolate, and strawberry jam.

The taste is perhaps a bit off. Not sure about the age of this bottle - could be a bit too old. A mix of sweet (and slightly sour) berries kick things off. A slight metallic note. Black licorice is there, along with a good dose of roasted malts. However, the slight sourness is kinda ruining it for me. It's hard to get past this. After some time in the glass, I do pick up a bit of chocolate and some of the mead barrel. The rye barrel is lost, or is completely dominated by the mead. Bummer.

Mouthfeel is definitely thick and creamy, and the aftertaste is a jammy sweetness. It's good, but I wish I knew what it tasted like fresh!

    Good evening NBW
I've been rather low on new beer and purchasing familiar oktoberfests in bulk, so no reviews for a couple weeks now. Mrs Jkblr and I solved my inventory problem with a trip to Cincinnati and a stop at Jungle Jim's today. I'm set for a couple months and the wallet is lighter, but I've never seen the variety that place has anywhere else.

    Black Marble Stout
14.9 oz can stamped BC D30 / xx 2025/16 poured into a nonic pint glass at fridge temp 5.1% ABV. The beer pours dark brown with light brown head. Typical nitro head, dense and consistent. The aroma is mild with roasted malt present in an ashy, dry way. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with cocoa and more ash. Mild finishing bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with typical nitro feel. Overall, very good.

    Cheers all!

    I’m onto #601 @russpowell, 700 here I come!!!!!

Sorry about the Leafs talk above, I can’t help myself sometimes but now it is beer time. It was hot and humid today then an amazing cold front rolled through, now windows are open, I got a hoodie on, then we chased down mister softee as a family, a dark lager just felt right. Poured at golden hour, tree perfectly lit in foreground.

Brought back from Vermont, happy to give this beer a try.

    Sacred profane - Dark Lager (4 %)

Pours the darkest of brown as it pours, in glass appears black; substantial creamy mocha colored had, very good retention, sheets of lace from initial pour; this is really one beautiful pouring and looking beer.

Nose is bakers chocolate, light ash, light roast; gently burnt notes; some hop presence as it warms.

The taste is very impressive; the malt is rich but shy of overbearing; mostly the same baker’s chocolate, all the roast and toast from the nose blend with a gentle bread quality that finishes with a lick of hops; if forced to describe I’d say they carry a very light spice quality but ends with earthy qualities.

Mouthfeel is so smooth, soft, with a really noticeable creamy carbonation; light body, high drinkability; the creaminess is met with a nice bitterness on the finish that to me really enhances said drinkability; it has quite the finish, a lovely marriage of residual malt sweetness that ever so slowly dries out into nothingness.

This is quite the beer to me, it really hits every czech dark lager tick for me; just super smooth soft and clean. I would really love to try this beer on tap one day. Lovely treat for me this evening.

Be back with one more tomorrow, just for you @GlenFarclas :beers:

Firestone Parabolita Salted Caramel Imp Stout, 9.2% ABV; 4.12 overall

Pours a hazel tinged mahogany with a thumb+ of mocha colored head. Some lacing & head retention, stays effervescent throughout the pour

S: Vanilla, leads the way, some cocoa & coffee as well

T: Follows the nose, plenty of salted caramel as well, dryness too up front. Cocoa, salted caramel & restrained coffee notes as this beer warms up. Finishes dry with mocha notes, plenty of salted caramel, some woody & leafy hops

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, somewhat warming

Easy to drink, a fun, not necessarily great Imp Stout

Nice clear copper red/gold/brown body, just off white head. Biscuit cracker nose with some lemon grass and herbs, nutty, bready, sweet. Taste follows and is exactly what you want - sweet in the front with chewy wet bread, then nutmeg, lemon, floral hops. I somehow have never had this, but had an expectation that it would be a near-perfect Oktoberfest, and it delivered. Fantastic.
