I definitely wish I didn’t wait 7 years to open it haha. I’d go for a small pour somewhere for sure to compare to what I just had.

Imagine Nation Double Liminal All Citra New England Style IPA, 8.2% ABV; 4.13 overall

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation, good balance, acidic presence, in a good way

Easy to drink, nice & juicy

Hey! Handwritten review! Love it! And even a fresh hop I haven't seen!

Far Field - Lights Out Black IPA

16oz can served in a big snifter. If dated, I don't see it. Gifted to me by @2beerdogs when I visited...a week ago? A bit more? Life's been busy.

Pours black with a small creamy head. Smell is fresh clean hops and lots of roasty malt goodness.

Taste is very, very roasty, burnt sugars and burnt toast, lots of toffee and molasses sweetness, but strong citrus and pine resin bitterness adding on and also providing some floral notes that are burnt around the edges.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth, clean. Overall, very nice beer, leans more toward the "dark and roasty bitter" than the "pine resin bitter" but has a nice malty backbone and is balanced really well.

Thanks to all congratulating me on the quite silly, decile-based milestone I posted about. I believe I have interacted with all of you in some form or another on this site over the years, and it's been fun. Cheers to all!

    Roadhouse - Plasma, hazy IPA

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Packaged 09/10/24. Gifted to me by @2beerdogs.

Pours very hazy, light yellow-amber, medium sized cottony head, settles slowly into a thin skin and a thick, clumpy layer, chunky lacing though not very even. Moderate visible carbonation. Smell is a little nectarine, a little melon, some citrus rind.

Taste is moving a bit toward the melon and bubble gum direction, soft and juicy with a melon rind bitterness that doesn't quite overcome the overripe tropical fruit sweetness.

Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. Overall, pretty nice beer.

A new one from the 2nd oldest brewery in the US, Schell's Peanut Butter Chocolate Porter:
    Appearance: Dark brown, big head.

Smell: Very nutty, hint of chocolate.

Taste: Mild sweetness, then a nutty flavor with a little bit of chocolate mixed in. Medium-light bodied. The nut flavor sticks around through the finish.

Overall: Lots of peanut butter porters around, here's Schell's effort. It's fine, plenty of nut aroma and flavor, maybe could be a little sweeter or have more of the porter base show through.

Smorgasbord kind of day with football, Nascar and the Bruins. Suffered thru some of the Pat's game, enjoyed the high stakes short track playoff race, Bruins seem to be getting their act together. When I couldn't watch the Pat's any longer went out and mowed the field. The grandson helped rake up - the tractor makes nice piles of clippings and we just raked and scooped into the bucket.

Tonight's volunteer I will add to the site when I have my computer - just easier than the phone.

This is St Gelais, a dark mild from Proclamation. The brewery web site says availability is "rare".

It pours a weak coffee color, slight haze, reddish tints, so it's kinda chestnut brown when all said and done. Tan, tight head about an inch high. Falls to a generous cap. Decent cling.

Not much on the nose. Malty and grainy, a bit fruity, earthy, a little floral/ green.

The taste brings a bit more. It is reminding me of a gingerbread cookie with not too much ginger. Bready, a little sweet malt, a little toffee or brown sugar, raw grain. A little dried fruit melange I can't quite decipher. Nutty - kinda mixed nut style. This is probably weird, but I'm getting black tea at the back end of the taste. Earthy and slightly aromatic. There's some light floral notes and a very faint mint. I'm guessing Fuggles as the old world hop here. I'm thinking I have tasted this profile or dang close to it in a whole grain bread of some sort. It's not hitting hard enough to single things out but the overall flavor is pleasant.

Feel is light, mildly carbonated. Very weak and brief bitter hit.

Ok...mild seems to be the key word here. It's not a style I've had more than one of ( well, 2 now) so I'll be doing some reading before rating. It's like it is so intentionally benign and can't possibly offend anyone... which I guess is the objective. I think it is what it's supposed to be, but wonder if maybe it's dialed back a bit too far? I like it just fine, but I don't have a feel for where it is on the spectrum of the style.

"West Coast Pilsner" is not a name i have seen very much, but seeing WC Pale Ales suggests there will be West Coast Pils and anything else brewers can think of. I had a "San Diego Style" IPA the other day. **Not hazy**

Maybe you saw this long thread on trying to create Style definitions for Pilsners other than the catch-all "German":

Ommegang/ De Koninck Collab Super Bolleke Belgian Amber, 7.8% ABV; 3.97 overall

Pours an effervescent honey/amber color with a thumb+ of ivory colored head. Below average head retention & lacing

    S: Pears, white pepper, coriander

T: Follows the nose, some green banana, a little dryness & some phenols up front. Some Golden Delicious Apple notes, more green banana, some clove notes as this beer warms up. Finishes with green apple skins, green bananas, a little dryness & a kiss of treacle

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation

Good take on the style, fairly drinkable for what it is

This one comes from the new BA Big Beer Box
    Haze Division
She's a pretty hazy offering. Yellow to gold, fluffy white head with pretty solid retention and light lacing.
Aroma begins with pineapple and citrus zest. Then some green grass foretells a move towards onion and a hint of weed.
The flavor is more of a balance between citrus and some tropical notes. There is a slight herbal taste hat comes though right before a smooth bitter finish.
    Feel is ok for style.

Old Prague Bohemian Premium Dark Lager

The second of two beers from Pivovar Podkováň is a Czech dark lager.

It pours dark brown with a large beige head and fluffy lacing.

The nose is sweet toffee, caramel, and malt.

Following the nose, the taste is roasty chocolate and sweet malt.

The same slightly metallic aftertaste, but changes to fermented bread drink quickly.

Overall, it is an easy-drinking light lager, similar to Kozel Černý.

Bummed to hear this news. I did not make it to Revolution when I was in Chicago about 6 years ago and I have dreaded that for a while. What's the date of the closure?

    Wayward Lane Brewing Hollow Ground
    7.5% stout
    [IMG]

Pint can dated 10-4-24. Opaque black body with mocha colored head. Light lacing.

Aroma is roast coffee. Taste follow nose as the coffee is supported by a bitter malty char. The beer reduces bitterness as it warms.

Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation.

Easy drinking sour for coffee fans.

Bombastic Brewing Psychopomp Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Imperial Stout, 14.2% ABV; 3.91 overall

Pours with zero head & and a ruddy chestnut/mahogany color. No head retention or lacing, viscous

S: Maple syrup, a little roastyness, fades abruptly, some smokiness once warm, hints or Port as well

T: Follows the nose, some cola notes vanilla & some coffee up front. Bourbon barrel as this warms up along with maple candy, a little coffee, some char & woody hops as this beer warms up . Plenty of Bourbon in the finish, some maple notes, a little vanilla & coffee, along with a little woody hop

MF: Somewhat chewy, low carbonation, some booze bite & warming to this

Seems pretty under carbonated, this had plenty of potential to be a world-beater. Did drink fairly easy for the heft
