Kane morning bell imperial milk porter
....solid black appearance with a thin but lasting tan head.
....medium light carbonation with an above average with a thick creamy feel. Overall an excellent feel
...aroma is has black coffee, cream, and an almost buttery dessert like smell thats very pleasant.
...taste has a mild sweetness thats quickly met with dry bitter roasted coffee beans and espresso. The coffee builds and takes over in the aftertaste but still leaves room for the creamy, chocolate candy like element that really makes the backbone of this beer.
...overall this is so good im thinking of going back for 2 more 4 packs. One for me and another so I can put it in beer boxes I send people[IMG]

Brasserie La Debauche (France) ‘Black Ale India Stout’

33 cl can poured chilled into a La Debauche brewery short glass. Packed on Feb. 5, 2025 - six weeks fresh to the lip.
Reasonable tan foam on deep brown brew.
Aroma comes out coffee and well-toasted bread.
Taste leads (and ends) with coffee. In between are hits of bakers cocoa and lots of roasted chocolate malt. The hop note will not be ignored, despite its brief appearance. The sum of the parts offers a fine bitterness before draining the palate with long lingering coffee and a little sweet residue. Definitely drinks bigger than its 8% ABV.,.
Mouth is light end of medium, high end of medium carbonation.
Overall, this IPA / Black ale / Stout hybrid is a flavor packed Winner.

I appreciate the appropriate situations you will employ these new beers in the real world. Now, if the massive gold ball in Epcot center were, shall we say, catch fire, this Surly Orange Whip Cream ale might just be the perfect beverage when you are running for your life, escaping to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, which we all know is the emergency meet location.
Now you’re appreaciating the Orange Whip!

Absolute Elsewhere from Royal City Brewing Co.

A new one from my local brewery, and one of my favourite styles.:+1:

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A one finger off white head on a hazy gold. the head diminishes to a layer. Fine patchy lacing.

Bready malt smells. The taste follows the nose. Some herbal notes, as billed. Some spice. A dry malt finish.

A smooth mouthfeel. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall a fine Maibock. Worth a try.

Happy New Beer Sunday, Weekenders! I started my day with a mystery (wrapped in foil).

For this audience, I'll skip right to the reveal:

    New Glarus 30th Anniversary Quadruple

This is excellent! I'd put it up there with among the best Quads this country can offer. If you gave this to me in a glass and told me it was a Trappist Quad, I wouldn't second guess you.

The largest criticism I have is that the banana notes entirely dominate the aroma, and while it's not as strong on the palate, it's still the primary flavor up front. Consequently, it lacks some of the delicate complexity of the best in the style (Rochefort, Westy). But damn, this is good!

Woke up awhile ago, and now it's time to enjoy New Beer Sunday #1048! As noted yesterday, this is the second of two Firestone Walker and Revolution collaborations. I thought the beer was good yesterday but lacked greatness, hopefully the bar is raised today.

3/23/25 - (Can- Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes:
Purchased refrigerated as part of my 2024-2025 Deep Woods Season ticket, retailed for $12.50 a can plus tax. Refrigerated at home until opening this morning. Collaboration with Firestone Walker, Barleywine Ale aged in Rye Whiskey and Red Wine Barrels. Tri-Coastal and Triple-Oaked. 12 oz canned by Revolution Brewing 1/10/25 @ 12:10:30 PM. 16.5% ABV. Revolution Beer LLC, 3340 N. Kedzie, Chicago, Illinois.

Appearance: Poured into a 12 oz snifter, yielding a dark plum bronze murky base, light tan bubbly head lingered for under a minute without leaving a trace. or cover over the base. 3.75

Aroma: Initial yield 15 minutes after pulling from the refrigerator yielded dark fruits such as plums, raisins, very malty. Let sit another 10 minutes and a and getting a light oak and red wine, the rye whiskey faint and primarily recognized based on the beer description. Mild in strength and enjoyment. 3.5

Taste: Much stronger and more enjoyable than the aroma. Yields a bold rye whiskey, the malt more balanced than the FW brewed original collaboration. Red wine barrels and oak give this a flavor boast in a good way, caramel and toffee noted among the malt flavors over the still present raisins from the aroma and figs, no plums. This is more like it, really enjoying and had to consciously stop chugging, always a good sign. 4.5

Mouthfeel: This is strong as expected with the 16.5% ABV, drinks at that level which is very high, at least for my 2025 tolerance level. Medium plus body, sticky and sweet, though the rye whiskey is assertive enough to balance out. On the English Barleywine side of the ledger, with minimal hops presence. Faint slightly fizzy carbonation, barrels and base the primary finish component, rye whiskey and red wine, plus sticky sweet malt, caramel and raisins. 4.25

Overall: This is a solid effort and collaboration, enjoying a bit more than the Firestone Walker version. Not sure if freshness or storage prior to purchase played a role, with the FW collaboration enjoyed yesterday brewed up to one year prior to this one. A greater balance, more taste flavor nuance make this one enjoyable. Very strong, perhaps a bit too strong, so be prepared for a nap and to not drive after 12 oz. Glad I pulled this one today! 4.25

Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the thread through the weekend, and returning next weeks, perhaps Friday evening now that I have normal ABV new to me selections to choose from.

The final beer of my Minhas "haul":

    Huber Premium
    [IMG]
Appearance: Clear gold, nice carbonation, small but steady head.

    Smell: Some oxidized caramel.

Taste: Mild sweetness, then the slightly oxidized caramel from the nose comes through in the taste. Maybe a hint of grassiness but also a slight sour grain note.

Overall: Huber Premium—seems like an older can with the oxidized caramel and slight sourness. Not as much of the sour grain note as Rhinelander lager. Go with Huber Bock if you want some Huber beer.

The final scores of the six beers I picked up at Minhas and their overall scores in my opinon:
Huber Bock 2.95 (Posted in the bock thread)
    Thirsty Miner DIPA 2.49
    Boxer Lager 2.4
    Rhinelander 2.17
    Huber Premium 2.09
    Good Ass Beer 1.61

I have a new lowest scoring beer in "Good Ass Beer", beat out Evil Eye and about 1800 others that I've rated/reviewed in 21 years on BA.

Dark pouring beer. It has a brown color with amber tones when I hold it to the light. Tan colored head.
The nose is lighter. I am getting malt hints to it. Some chocolate malt notes.
Taste - taste malty. I do get some caramel notes to the beer as well as some chocolate hints. Slight notes of licorice.
The body is decent. Smooth feeling. Crisp feeling.
I am surprised that I haven't had this beer before. I am glad I got it. Tasty.

Today's New Breakfast Beer, the penultimate brew from box #3 from @Whyteboar:

A Dose of Thunder from Fair State Co-op. Received from @Whyteboar in Barleywine and Stout BIF #2. 12 fl oz can. Received 26/02/25, reviewed 23/03/25 (Review 3480). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on the can bottom “C: DEC/02/24.” Stored at home at 39 degrees F and served at 46.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 49.6 degrees F.
    Appearance – 4.25.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same, with light penetrating the edges, amber.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.8 cm, aggressive center pour), caramel, high density with a rocky top, excellent retention. Stabilizes at a 1.5 cm thick cap with the oxygenated top lightening to sandy tan.
Lacing – Little; mostly what remains are some narrow, torn curtains at the top of the glass – in general, the head remains intact, but slightly smaller.
Aroma – 4.25 – Distinctly coffee with roasted malt and a hint of char. No hops, no yeast, no alcohol.
Flavor – 4.5 – Begins mildly bitter, with less coffee than expected from the nose. No yeast, no hops. No alcohol (8.8 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Weak gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium: slightly creamy: soft, caressing carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.

Final impression and summation: 4.5 Excellent Baltic Porter! This is/was so tasty that it didn’t have much of a chance to warm up. But since I’m still drinking it… As it warms, the coffee becomes less noticeable and the roasted malt becomes more dominant. The slight chariness recedes and slight notes of sweetness appear.

    Rating 4.38, rDev +2.8%

Thanks Craig - an excellent brew!

This is a very clear golden pouring beer in the glass. There's a white head to it.
Nose is light. Very faint hints of lactose to it.
Taste - this beer has a great grain flavor in it. The grain does linger and is added to with a hint of lactose.
    Smooth creamy body. Decent depth.
    Not bad at all.

Poured from a pint can into my Samuel Smith nonic.

Clear cardinal body with a heavy beige raft receding to a thin milky cap. Soapy even lacing; decent retention.

Faint malt aroma with just a touch of butter-based caramel/toffee.

Rich yet mellow malt backed by a low but lasting bitterness. Restrained roast malt notes combine with the (faintly earthy) hop bitterness to help dry out the finish.

Smooth, soft, yet light bodied and well carbonated.

Classic example of the style I suppose, though maybe lacking depth of character.
