That’s an awesome idea, not sure I could pull it off though.
    Good luck!

This was a free beer, but you know...

Tivoli Brewing ( Colorado ) Outlaw Light, 4.2% ABV; 2.44 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with a pinky of pearl colored head. Great head retention & lacing

    S: Grainy, bready, sweet

T: Grainy, maybe a little soapy, pretty sweet & just a little grassyness up front, faint dryness. Corn syrup notes, a little grassyness & dryness, & modicum of bitterness once warm. Finishes a bit dry, with some grassy notes, but also cloying sweetness

MF: Light body, medium carbonation; skews was too sweet for me balance wise

Not a light beer fan, but this has carbonation and balance issues that make this very disappointing

    Hello New Beer Weekend!!!

Well, I think it is a good idea to have one new beer tonight.

This was kindly given to me in a trade, and it is tasty to me, even though I am way off the average here.

From a 12oz can Date is smugged, but I think it was canned on 05/14/25

This beer is a very juicy looking beer. There's a ton of haze to it, and it has a pale orange color to it. There's a 3 finger white head to the beer with good head retention and nice sticky lacing on the glass.
The aroma is quite full of citrus notes from the hops. Nice pineapple notes to the beer. There's a grassy earthiness to the aroma.
The flavor is based on the hops. I get tropical notes here with some pineapple flavor. There's a hint of the grassy earthiness that also shows up in the mix. There's some bitterness on the back with a slight building to it.
The feeling has a nice bubbly feel to it. The carbonation tickles my tongue. Somewhat juicy feeling. Decent depth.
Tasty beer overall, and a pleasure to get the chance to try it. It delivers on what it is intended to be.

I'll see if I have one more in me tonight. If not, see you all tomorrow. Cheers!

Barrel-Aged Almond Pop from Equilibrium. An imperial stout aged in bourbon with almonds, vanilla, marshmallows, and lactose. 14% ABV. I'm really not sure which batch this, but I'm assuming batch 4 as I bought this recently. If so, then it spent 26 months in bourbon barrels. Does anyone know how to tell the differences among batches?

Poured at fridge temp. Pours an insanely thick and pitch black. Zero head. Looks completely still. The nose is nice. Not as sweet as some of their offerings. Definitely getting chocolate, almonds, marshmallow, vanilla, and a bit of maple. No barrel showing up on the nose.

The taste is very good. Again, nicely balanced and not too sweet at all. Actually getting a solid amount of roasted malts on the taste, which is pleasant. Also getting nice complimentary notes of dark chocolate, marshmallow, almonds, vanilla, brown sugar, maple, biscuits, and a hint of ginger. Pie crust, lactose, and a bit of bourbon are also there.

The mouthfeel is incredible, which is in part clearly due to the lactose. Thick, oily, and creamy. The aftertaste is chocolate and almonds. Great beer overall, based on what it aimed to do. This might not be for everyone, but if you love pastry stouts this one should be high on your list.

Good evening and Happy 4th. We had some natural fireworks in the area last night with swirling high winds and thunderstorms. We often seem to be in a pocket with these things - seems to go a little north and south of us - couple of nearby towns got hammered. Direct hit missed us. Humidity cleared out and it was a beauty outside today.

    Here's what I'm drinking:

You'd think with all the black-lined text and Proclamation's penchant for clever names you'd think the word "redacted" might come up, but it's just Maibock.

Pours a clear varnish color with a solid inch of dessert white foam. Foam collapses to a thin cap, decent cling to the glass.

The smell is sweet malt, a little bready, nice floral hops even though it's a few months old.

The taste is slightly sweet, caramelly, and bready malt. Lightly floral and grassy on the hops. There's an odd astringency that I'm not digging - can't find a descriptor for it. Almost metallic.

Feel is medium-bodied. The bitterness is sharp and touching on unpleasant. It's not long-lasting but it's so sharp it stands out. It's dry.

Overall, not something I need to drink again. Weird flavor note and the oddly sharp bitterness aren't pleasant. Depending on how the rest of the glass goes, between 3.0 and 3.5 here.

@JackHorzempa - I did try the Jacks Abby Moderns Pils again - warming can and I let it breathe a bit. MUCH better experience - more full flavor, more nuanced, and more in line with expectations.

    Saranac weekend warrior golden pilsner
...incredibly clear light gold appearance with a thin lasting white head
...medium carbonation with a just below average body
...aroma is vegetable, wort, grain and some cereal
...taste is almost identical to aroma with some mild sweetness. The finish is mostly grain with a hop bitterness that builds in the aftertaste.
...overall its basically a light beer thats better than most[IMG]

Tarantula Hill Brewing Dankerman 3 Stay Classy Again IPA, 7.0% ABV; 3.73 overall

Pours a bright & effervescent gold with 2 fingers+ of eggshell colored head. Average head retention & good lacing

S: Bready, some tropical fruit, a little citrus, some peach late

T: Follows the nose, some tangerine, green melon & a little grassyness up front. Some breadyness, pomelo, dryness & green melon as this beer warms up. finishes grassy with some citrus & green melon

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation & decent balance. Carbonation was a little flat

Drinks easy, fairly solid but not really that memorable, not near dank enough

    Twin elephant crocodile tears pilsner
...fairly clear orange/gold appearance with a lasting white head
...around a medium body with aggressive carbonation which starts to dissipate quickly
...aroma is malty bread, earthy hops, grain and cracker
...taste has a very mild sweetness which starts to get taken over by dry earthy hops that leave a bitter dryness in the aftertaste
...overall its an interesting well done beer but feels a bit heavier on the hops than the vast majority of pilsner I've tried[IMG]

I managed to find a new beer in the cellar for today, might have to go get another couple for the weekend.

I picked up a 4 pack in Colorado when I was there for my brothers wedding.
A coffee stout- I love coffee stouts. Mostly.
The pour is stout black with a 1” light brown head that looked fine for about 20 seconds and then the bubbles got huge as it dissipated.
The taste is coffee forward, and not a smooth brew. A touch on the harsh side. Like cheap French roast harsh. The vanilla is present but has a hard time keeping up with the coffee.
The feel is good, just a touch viscous and very easy quaffing.
OA, won’t be a problem finishing the 4 pack, but probably won’t buy more. Of course, since it’s not available in Michigan, probably couldn’t anyway.
Didn’t lack a lot of flavor, I just didn’t like it as much as I expected to. If you like harsher coffee, you might really enjoy this.
    Cheers!

Tripel Dragon from Common Space in the L.A. area.

This is really not a bad Made in America tripel. It's fruity and rich but not overly sweet. The Belgian character is there but it's not so yeasty, though the aftertaste is appropriately bitter. Flavors of orange, custard, sugar cookies, and then that bitter finish.

New real ale for me at Heathrow:
Doom Bar Amber Ale • English bitter • 4% ABV

No official review but dinnae matter because the bottom line is I love it. It’s much more malt than hops, so its bitter bite is more a late nibble. Still, it smells and tastes of rich dark bread with a hint of honey and peach preserves. Lovely stuff.

    This one’s for @snaotheus :
