Canned 7.02.25 - this can opened just moments ago and a WBAYDN x-post.
Very solid...edits incoming along with deets.

L - Crystalline structure, like a fine champagne, wiht great, long-lasting head anc carbonation for minutes on end. See through.
S - could smell the floral, almost overly hopped, character on this as soon as I opened this can from 7.02.25 (writing this 8.10.25) and the whiff is potent - but settles into a good mix of peach stone fruit smells, some diesel, and some piney resin.
T - Hmm... falls a bit flat, could be the TDH treatment; I always find the DDH and TDH beers more impactful on the nose than on the palate, but more of the same (tame) peach, some floral diesel, and a bit of forest floor. Strange this is the weak point for this otherwise stellar beer... alas.
F - Love the mouthfeel, nice and dry, and the carbonation does wonders here - stays perky on the tongue for the whole can and glass. Floods the palate, but the dryness lingers and any biterness drops off the cliff. A bit of almost pit bubblegum at the end. Interesting.
O - A great rendition of V.S., though the taste gets muted a bit by the triple dry hop (I think?) - would love to try this on tap when fresh in Portland. Well done.

Taking a breather with this funky witbier from Suarez - cheers!

Packaged February 2023 - enjoyed on August 10th, 2025 - poured from a 750mL bottle into my Hoegaarden tumbler.

Clear jasmine body, light fluffy off-white cap. Average retention, vague lacing.

Barnyard funk in the nose - goat sweat, winter fruit, and green peppercorn. Orange grows stronger as the beer warms.

Bright tart palate entry with crushed oranges, lemon, pear, pineapple vinegar, and white wine. Sweet complex malt suggests wild honey. Medium-dry finish with a final flourish of funk. Low bitterness throughout.

Lightly oily, medium-light body with low carbonation and restrained alcohol.

Complex and refreshing, but more of a wild ale than a wit.

My gaming beer is, well, a barley wine. Probably sent or given to me by @Ozzylizard but can’t be sure because I often forget to keep appropriate notes.
Anyway - it is one from across the Atlantic and is a new brewery tic for me, so thanks Bob!
Poured copper color into a snifter with a light manilla colored head that leaves considerable lacing.
The flavor is a sweet combination of, I’m guessing, mostly malts with the necessary hops and yeast. The ingredient list shows sugar as well, so other than amplifying the ABV it also provides some sweetness. Tasty enough, yet almost one dimensional.
The feel is lightly viscous, a nice sipping beer.
OA, a very tasty yet simple take on the style, quite good.
    Cheers!

Sparkling clear, light gold color in the glass; fairly dense, fine-bubble carbonation; thick, frothy, white head, dense and lasting; spidery webs and flecks of foam decorate the interior part of the glass. Nice if muted nose; very, very mild light malt backbone; not much else other than a mere suggestion of herbal tones. Fair taste; very delicate malt backbone blended with a dab of herbal hop flavor and nearly hidden hop bitterness. Medium-light body; smooth and delicately silky.

Overall, this comes across as a basic pilsner without little to distinguish it form others. Blue corn apparently is part of the mashbill, but from my perspective, I don't detect anything suggesting it -- not in the looks, not in the taste. Good overall, yet rather humdrum.

Whew...we are finally by ourselves. So peaceful and quiet here. The contest is on, however. The grandson and Nana have a bet on fish caught this week - he says 14. I'm currently at 4. Got my work cut out for me!

Visited Lake St. George Brewery. Thought we'd grab lunch and a beer but no food truck today. The one that was supposed to be there had a great menu. Good news was they had Asylum - a DIPA I like that they have not had in two years.

But tonight, we drink well, you know...

I musta swiped post somewhere and ran past the edit window...dang...

So...Luxardo cherries, orange zest, Montmorency cherry juice and Angostura bitters. My bottle is from 2024 and I think the version entered here is different - the one listed here is aged in Basil Hayden barrels and a lower ABV.

Pours a murky brown with a fleeting half inch of tan foam that falls to nothing. Liquid clings to the glass nicely.

The smell...hmm..cherry and cherry pipe tobacco. Sweet - molasses and toffee. Just the faintest bit of orange. Then there's this vague spice thing going on. It's also herbal and earthy.

All that did absolutely nothing to prepare me fid the taste. The lead is spice - cardamom, nutmeg, coriander, clove, and something I can't quite identify. And it is not subtle on the first sip - it's a whack upside the head. As that calms down, there's is fruity sweetness and decadently ricb cherry. I do get the pipe tobacco sensation. Both a toffee and a molasses sweetness and a sweet bready malt foundation. Just a faint bit of orange. In the aftermath there is a bit of pepper and with more sips an anise spiciness lingers pleasantly. It's earthy and nicely grounded.

The feel is medium which is a blessing. If this were heavy, it'd be tough to drink. As it warms and I adapt to it, that spice slap gets gentler. The spice does tingle and the anise lingers very pleasantly. It seems dry which is weird but not a negative.

Overall, a big beer for responsible sipping. It's interesting in the best possible way. Big and bold and the initial sips are Mike Tyson-esque body shots. I will note the difference between my bottle and what the database says in my review - the base beer I think is the same but the barrel treatment differs. This is going somewhere between 4.0 and 4.5.

Sorry for the interrupted post...fingers fast, brain slow.

While at a pub with friends, I drank this beer poured from tap. The beer hits all the expected notes (clove, bubblegum) and appearance (cloudy yellow with fluffy head). Good mouthfeel and carbonation. Solid hef that was perfect on a hot summer day.

Greetings, New Beer people. It's been a busy weekend, but I think I can throw in a couple New Beers before the deadline. Starting with this one:

Living Häus Nisu PNW Pale Ale (collaboration with Brujos Brewing, Ruse Brewing, and Sunriver Brewing)

The beer is brilliant gold, with a sudsy head of off-white foam that shrinks before your eyes to a thin ring that leaves minimal lacing. The nose is lively and mouthwatering with grapefruit, pine, and strawberries. There are also woody undertones and an intriguing peppery finish. The flavor leads with zesty citrus, offering orange peel and lime juice along with the grapefruit promised by the nose. Malt follows, crisp and mildly sweet. The middle is loaded with pineapple and strawberries. Bold and tangy fruit character continues into the finish, where the beer dries out quickly and a snappy pine resin bitterness comes to the fore. There's a terrific watermelon note in the aftertaste. The body is light and quenching, with zippy carbonation. Overall, this is an outstanding American pale ale from 4 Oregon brewers who are well known for their skill with hoppy beers. Great stuff.

I'm tellin' ya... Usually the smell gives you some idea what you are in for, but not on this one. That first sip was a freakin' haymaker. How all that flavor is hidden in the aroma...sorcery, I say!

I'm headed to their Barelywine is Life event on the way home Saturday...like I need to drop another hundred bucks there...I mean stock up on more fabulous big beers :stuck_out_tongue:

Here's a New Beer I had on Friday night:

Gold Dot Super Clean Rice Lager

This beer is straw yellow and has fantastic clarity. A vigorous pour raises a high and fluffy head of snowy white foam which shows good retention and leaves patchy lacing. The nose is well balanced between clean, mildly sweet malt and delicate grassy hops. There's also a tempting note of toasted rice. The flavor starts with grainy, crackery malt backed up with that toasted rice note which is gentle but satisfying. The malt is lightly sweet. Hop character is restrained but provides good balance, and is more floral and spicy than the grassy character in the nose. The dry finish offers bready malt, rice, and a kiss of spicy hop flavor with very little bitterness. Body is light with brisk carbonation and a quick, crisp finish. A quenching beer with a delicious collection of well-balanced flavors.

Sometimes you have to avoid your instinct to be avoid being taken in by impending abduction by the light, and go full @snaotheus and @vurt. This beer features a black color with a thick, light-brown foam. The smell is spicy. So spicy. Coffee, spices, brown bread, chocolate, caramel, and nougat. The flavor is very spicy. So much so. But not too much so. I really like it. The mouthfeel is thick, full, and silky. I love to drink this beer on a warm summer evening! @Mdog loves to provide such splendor.

    Moonlight - Reality Czeck

16oz can served in a hotel tumbler. Can doesn't appear to be dated. I bought it at Windsor Home Brew Costa Mesa earlier today, after @Beersnake talked it up last night.

Pours clear light gold with a medium sized head and medium carbonation. Smell is clean grain, dry grass, maybe a hint of lemon.

Taste is all that and a bag of chips. Grain, grass, lemon, all amped up substantially. Bitterness is about perfect, and exceedingly well balanced by grain and floral sweetness.

Mouthfeel is light, clean, crisp. This beer is really good.
