I’d planned on another this evening but my daughter is a little under the weather and I’ll have to hold off until next week.

    Cheers all!

Tunnel of Trees by Trve Brewing. Thanks to @beergoot for this IPA.

Poured from a pint can, the body pours a faded gold with fluffy white head. Very good lacing.

Aroma is earthy hop with a bit of light fruit.

Taste follows nose with the hoppiness a notch below the level in the aroma but still very present. Wafts of grapefruit, pineapple and orange. There is a malty base that balances the hops with a sturdy and perhaps lightly sweet malty backbone. Bitterness is present, but it is light and temporary. Things dry up nicely with only a hint of bitterness in the finish. No sign of ABV.

Mouthfeel is good with strong carbonation.

    Easy drinking American IPA

Social Project Brewing High and Dry Triple Hazy IPA w/Citra & Mosaic Cryo Hops, 9.4% ABV; 3.65 overall

Pours a very hazed gold/honey color with 2 fingers pf ivory colored head. So-so head retention & lacing

    S: Citrus & pineapple

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry with a pineapple orange juice flavor up front. Pomelo, dryness & a little white grape & nectarine as this beer warms up. Finishes dry with lime & sour oranges

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, good balance

Drinks easy, but not in love with the flavor profile, a rare miss on a big IPA from these guys

Aroma is a lovely light bourbon and vanilla.

Taste follows nose. There is a sweet caramel that pairs well with the barrel. The booze is present but is light, without heat. ABV is deftly masked. A soft oak flavor binds the flavors together.

Mouthfeel is soft and luxurious. Carbonation is a perfect medium.

A delightful quad to sip and savor. Thanks to @Whyteboar for this treat.

Not that I'm a fan of the murky style, but this is actually a decent NEIPA. Pours a slightly hazy amber with long-lasting foam in the tall goblet. Very fruity with a welcome tangy edge, but not the usual acidity that mars so many hazies. The taste is orange, of course, but fruited up with some pineapple perhaps and mango. Sharp and juicy to the max, but quite sippable. Dated 12/2/24 so it seems to prove my belief that aging is good for NEIPAs.

Mahalo to @micada for this longtime want. This came via a counterstrike from the NBW Imperial Stout/Barleywine BIF#2

2021 Mother of All Storms BA English Barleywine,14.0% ABV; 4.64 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut/cola color with fast-falling mocha colored head. Super viscous, no head retention or lacing

S: Plums, Bourbon, Raisins & Figs, leather notes once warmed up

T: Dried plum, almost Li Hing Moi plum, some leathery dryness, port wine notes & a touch Bourbon-soaked raisins up front. More dried plum with a salty, leathery edge, a touch molasses, oak barrel & woody hops once the beer warms through, some treacle & dark chocolate too. Finishes oaky dry with sweet treacle & Maderia notes, plus figs & hints of Bourbon

MF: Chewy body, restrained carbonation, very warming

Great use of barrel aging without walking all over the style, perhaps the aging in the bottle is a factor? Stellar take on the style, some stickiness on the teeth

07/16/25. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Hazy gold with 2-finger white frothy head with good retention and multiple bands of thick lacing.

S: Mango-pineapple creamsicle with medium fruity esters. Just a little low in intensity.

T: Flavor ups the intensity a notch with mango, pineapple, and orange dominating with an herbal, almost pine note in the finish and aftertaste. Similar moderate fruity esters and low bitterness.

M: Classic soft NEIPA feel with lush medium-full body, moderate carbonation, and full finish.

O: Double Scoop is a very good example of the double NEIPA style.

My last new beer this weekend and its another barleywine, because, why not?!?
THis is Barreled Souls out of Saco Maine and their Barleywine X. A 11.1% brew with brown sugar, pecans and vanilla beans added. Bottle date is 07/01/2024.

    onto my review:

Im sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into a stemless tulip. Beer was purchased as part of bottle society orders and has been in my cellar since purchase.
THe beer pours a clear rich mahogany color with a frothy khaki colored head of about 3 cm. This foam quickly fades to a thin edge layer in my glass, and there is some scattered lacing when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is sweet and malty with toffee, brown sugar, nutty pecans and something Im smelling as maple syrup. There isnt any added, and maybe its just a combo of the additives. No hop character and its not boozy or fusol at all. Smells pretty much like what I expected based on the label and additives.
First sip reveals a medium body with fairly smooth texture and fine, gentle carbonation. Its not a very sticky barleywine and the swallow actually is thinner feel, probably due to the brown sugar addition and fermenting. The beer actually drinks pretty easy and my glass empties quickly.
Flavor is more of the nose advertisements with sweet malt dominant, brown sugar, vanilla , and again I get some maple notes. The pecan nuttiness is less prevelant here than on the nose. I also do get some black peppery bite on the finish, but no accompanying warming booze. Never any hop note either. I could see this being a bit to cloyingly sweet for some and it is in that realm for sure, but I do enjoy it and Im glad to have tried this beer.

Enough time for one more? Let's find out!

Baerlic Green Water Fresh Hop Lager (featuring fresh Sterling hops from Goschie Farms, Silverton, OR)

The beer pours a very hazy corn yellow, with a loose head of warm white foam which wastes no time retreating to a mottled skin and solid ring. The foam leaves plenty of lacing. The smell is grassy hops, a spicy noble hop character, and vivid citrus (mostly lemon with a splash of orange) with a slightly minty herbal note. Quite pleasant. The flavor starts with nice bready malt, more dry than sweet. Spicy hops follow with a pinch of lemon zest around the edges. Mild grassy notes linger underneath. Finishes malty with a bit of the lemon-mint combo from the nose and a surprising hop burn. Light body with moderate carbonation that prompts exceptional fresh hop burps. Nice beer, even if the fresh Sterling hop character finishes a bit hot.
