Sorry for this one, guys usually good

Mountain Fork Brewing Fog Dog Hazy IPA ( Broken Bow, OK ), 6.0% ABV; 2.56 overall

Pours an effervescent & somewhat hazed honey color with 3+ fingers of gushy pearl covered head. Great head retention & lacing, most likely by accident

S: Bready, doughy, grassy, some citrus

T: All of the above, grassy notes & dryness. Slight astringent bitterness, no aspects of a hazy, some caramel once warm. Finishes, down the drain...

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, skews bitter for the style, turns watery fast

No dating on the can, this gets zero mercy. A brewery that usually hits, not the case here. I would expect more out of home brew from beginners. Drain pour time

    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 4-10-24 into a snifter at 55 degrees.

Look- Black, opaque, medium brown creamy head, below average head retention and lacing, particulate visible at the margins, moderate alcohol legs on the glass walls.

Smell- Bourbon, maple, coffee, oak, vanilla, between medium and high strength of scent.

Taste- Maple, bourbon, coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, moderately sweet, high strength of flavor.

Feel- Medium body, silky, below average carbonation, mildly creamy, highly mouth warming, moderately mouth coating, moderately sweet, highly bitter, highly boozy at finish.

Overall- Black and opaque with below average head retention and lacing. The bouquet was a great mix of bourbon, maple, coffee and vanilla. The flavor followed the nose with more roasted malt character peaking through. The body was a bit thinner than expected with low carbonation, but some nice mouth warming and coating properties. It’s hard to go wrong with a bourbon, maple and coffee flavor/aromatic profile and this beer didn’t disappoint. It delivered a very deliciously flavorful and boozy drinking experience.

Souls & Spirits Morning Judge IPA, 8.0% ABV; 4.28 overall ( Blew me way, stacked room temp at Walmart in Fayetteville, AR this morning, praise Logistics! )

Pours an effervescent & slightly hazed gold with 2+ fingers ivory colored head. Stellar head retention & lacing, never drops bright

S: Apricot, peach, green melon, pretty intense & sustained

T: Follows the nose, cakey, dry, pineapple notes as well up front. More of pineapple, a little pomelo once warm, dryness & pine showing up. Finishes with pineapple, pine & dryness & a little white oak & white grape must

MF: Medium body, a little sticky, low carbonation. Body thins a bit once warm, carbonation, picks up a bit; pretty good balance

Drinks too easy would swear this was 1x IPA. Most likely the best beer I've had from these guys

Had another new beer tonight and spoiler this one was a clunker. Definitely not a good beer and I know not reviewing infected beers etc, but kinda want to share in case others have this beer in their stockpile.

this is Resistance = Vanilla/Currant barleywine from Barreled Souls in Saco Maine. Beer was purchased at the brewery .

    onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. Beer was bottled on 11/28/2023, was held at the brewery for me where I picked it up on August. In my cellar since. Bottle is # 674/680.
The beer pours a light chestnut hue and carries some red wine and ruby highlights when its sitting in my glass. A pretty dark color with only some light passing through the glass. A spongey soapy khaki colored head of almost 3.5cm foams up on the pour and I cant get the whole bottle in the glass. This foam slowly fades to a sturdy surface covering. I get dense tight lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip.
Aroma is some light malt and a bit of tart fruit note but also a little phenolic note too. Not a great start on this beer. No vanilla character on this nose. worried about the status of the beer.
First sip reveals a light to medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation. There is a bit of a slick coating to my palate with each sip.
Flavor is better than the nose. I get toffee and some light fruit here, with maybe a little sweet vanilla, but that is buried. The finish is a bit of fusol booze and some tartness but also some plastic note that is fairly unpleasant.

THERE IS AN INFECTION in this bottle. Ive added to this beer to the BA DB and will leave it as a warning. Looking at Untappd, several users mention sour and more of a wild ale than a barleywine. IF you have this bottle, it is probably not gonna be good. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT over.

    2.5 in the BA DB

    @2beerdogs
Of course a beer named after me is infected.
    No surprise there:wink:
