Cheers to @masamuel2 for this Cali Goody via the Superbowl Squares 2026 BIF.

Monkish LX DDH Pale Ale, 6.5% ABV; 4.01 overall

Pours a super hazed gold with one finger of eggshell colored head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Citrus, white grapes, peaches &pineapple. Great nose

T: Pomelo, white grape, dryness, green melon up front. A little pineapple & grapefruit, plus dryness as this beer warms up, some white grape & cantaloupe too. Finishes a little dry with pineapple. pomelo , green melon, & white grape

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, some acidity, pretty good balance

Plenty drinkable, flavors didn't blend together for greatness, too dry for me, still tasty enough

    Great.. Back to back

Social Project Brewing Co. white. (noise) Double Hazy IPA w/Mosaic Cryo, CIP 76 & Krush Quantam Hops. 8.1% ABV; 8.1% ABV, 4.23 overall

Pours a slightly hazed gold with a thumb+ of pearl colored head. Very good head retention & above average lacing

S: Catty, some melon & citrus

T: Cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, orange juice, white grapes, dryness & guava up front. Slight cattyness & a little pine once warmer, more watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, & dryness. Finishes a little dry with some grapefruit, green melon, guava & strawberry & just a little cattyness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, nice balance. Carbonation is a little more aggressive once warmer

Very drinkable, ABV is diabolically hidden. Nose kind of holds this back a bit & really doesn't totally jibe with the flavor at first, but comes around a bit. If everything matched the flavor, A+ beer

Side Piece Pale Ale from Burgeon Beer in southern Calif.

Well, it's hoppy alright with all these: Tanger, Cascade, Mosaic, and Simcoe. Very light and pale and hopped up, if that's your idea of a side piece. Pleasant subtle aroma of green melon and apricot. Sturdy aftertaste of citrus and watermelon rind. Not at all sweet or malty. I find I'm drinking the whole can since it's not very strong, in spite of the austere and rather bitter reward. Spritzy but not very flavorful. Dated 02/10/26.
