#2, this is described as an imperial stout on the can. I (very kindly) beg to differ.

As you pour this from the can, it looks like a cola going into the glass, but appears black in the glass with a creamy tan head. The nose has a nice roasty aroma, a bit of blueberry, and some cacao, but nothing that resembles cinnamon.

The taste has a delicious roasty flavor up front and throughout, along with cacao, and the blueberry is more prominent, which is great. There’s also a bit of cinnamon flavor as a spicy note, and a smidge of molasses.

The mouthfeel is medium and a little creamy, which fits this beer as it’s brewed, but it’s not to style for an imperial stout because, to me, this isn’t really an imperial stout. It fits in that space between an imperial stout and a “regular” stout where so many of these pasty-ish stouts reside.

But I enjoyed the pint and I’m glad I have a few more to enjoy.

Worth a Visit Worth A Lifetime

malt profile - Golden Promise, flaked oats, wheat
hops - Vic Secret, Southern Passion, Mosaic, Citra
    10%ABV

poured from a can dated 5/24/21
thick apricot colored with a thin fuzzy head, no cap and thin soapy lacing
aroma is muted stone fruits, pineapple and apricot
taste is relatively thin for such a heavy beer, some tropical fruits, earthy notes and a hint of orange.
Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, creamy feeling, some sweetness, stickiness and a slight dry bitter finish on the back of the tongue. Low carbonation
Overall its a fairly smooth drinking beer for a triple IPA, on the thick heavy side and the 10% abv is well hidden.

Home from work, and my weekend has started. Time for some much needed hops from @basaywhat

Hallow Double IPA from Half Acre Brewing - 8% ABV.

Yeah, it's hot as heck again today, but this glass of juice is going down very well. Damn good. I'm very happy to have gotten a chance to try this beer. Thank you so much for sending it to me.

    3.94/5 rDev -6%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Pours an orange looking color. Very dank and murky looking. The head is 2 finger, and has decent retention. There's also a bit of lacing that clings to the glass.
The nose is tropical. I get a decent amount of pineapple with some grapefruit and mango.
Taste - This beer has a decent amount of pineapple in it backed up by the grapefruit and mango. I also get a touch of a more old school pine flavor in this beer.
The body is somewhat soft, and juicy. The hops do cling a bit in my throat.
    Delicious beer overall.

Maybe I'll have another in a bit.

If anyone’s read my past posts I got two mixed for packs from family already this weekend and now more free beer! My dad was visiting an old friend in Norfolk, they got beer and he came back with some stuff and gave me some. It was the weekend that kept on giving, all in all 12 free new beers were given to me this weekend, crazy! This one a pilsner from the veil...

    The Veil Brewing - Cave

Pours so close to crystal clear gold, large quick popping bubbles head. It actually settles to a nice creamy froth though. Off to a good start in the looks department.

Aroma is all noble hops, grassy, floral, some spice. Yes I just restated all the descriptors for those hops typically but they are front and center here. The floral notes being most prominent.

Taste again hop dominant, most notable earthy and really nice grassy thing going on. It’s almost overdone hoppy, lverging on resiny but it stops just short.

Mouthfeel on this one is also nice, light body and soft carbonation. A noticeable lingering bitterness with a very dry clean finish. Again there is that resiny vibe from the hops but I don’t mind it because it is so clean.

This beer is impressive to me. It’s definitely over hopped but to be honest I like it in this beer. It’s not overbearing and it stops just short of it, it toes the line perfectly. It is it’s on unique pils and it is very drinkable. Nice job from a known for IPA and slushy brewery. Cheers to The Veil!

Dark, murky brown body; initially no head then a thin wispy ring circles the glass. Rich smell; dark pitted fruit, anise and leather; mild earthy spiciness. Outstanding taste; like a rich port; cocoa and plum plus raisin with a subdued booziness. Heavy body; slick and oily; coats the palate with a slippery sweetness.

The old bugaboo with high ABV beers having little head retention exist here; but then, it's nearly six years old. Otherwise, the taste and mouthfeel are exceptional for the style. The beer is rich and complex overall.

Served at 54° F; rye bourbon barrel version (2015)

No details being provided, but christ, this beer and more are needed now...

I was finally gonna jump in on the can can one but we are going away the week that packages are expected to arrive. Kind of bummed but I will make sure I keep an eye for whatever one comes after that.

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass not sure when it was canned but assuming the last 7 to 10 days. Pours a hazy yellow orange with a half finger sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace with nice retention. 4.25

Aroma is passionfruit, honeydew, tangerine, and apricot. 4.25

Taste follows passionfruit, honeydew, tangerine, and apricot really well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is medium, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8% it is really easy drinking. 4.25

Overall this is a very nice NEDIPA would highly recommend. 4.25

You're not allowed to be paired with a brand new NBS BIFer. It's like the 72 hour rule. They don't know what they're getting into, and don't deserve the damage you'll inflict. :stuck_out_tongue:

    Sour Sunday!
    Synchopathic from Destihl
Poured the color of iced tea with a 1finger head
Smell of grapefruit and maybe lime?
Taste followed aroma, with additional malts and more sour like lemon. Astoundingly tasty for this 90 degree day.
Everything about this just hit the spot for me today, really nice!
    Cheers!

This is damn good on this hot day. Light and refreshing. Just damn good, and I'm happy to have had the chance to try it.

Pours a clear bubbly golden color. There's a lot of carbonation, and the bubbles keep rising in the glass. This produces a 3 finger slightly off white head. The head, however isn't long lasting at all, and there's almost no lacing on the glass.
The nose is fairly minimal. I just get the faintest malt, and citrus aroma.
Taste - There's a lot of honey in the flavor. A good malt bill, and the faintest hint of citrus on the backside.
crisp clean body. Lighter, as expected.
    Delicious on a hot day.

I think I'm done with new beers for this weekend. I might have another, but it's going to be one I've had before, and most recently at work to celebrate updating the sales tags for the week. Cheers!

Thanks! It’s that but also just a lot of other things going on end of June that will keep our family pretty busy. Plus the beer I’ll bring back from vacation, unfortunately one can only drink so much  I wish that wasn’t the case.

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass canned on 5/12/21. Pours a hazy yellow orange with a finger sticky white head that, leaves some spotty lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma passionfruit, sea salt, grapefruit, and lemon. 4

Taste follows and this is a perfect blend of sour and NEDIPA. Passionfruit and sea salt start out and then it hits you with lemon and grapefruit slightly sour but pretty well balanced throughout. 4

Mouthfeel is above medium, a tad sticky not really dry, fairly soft carbonation, and at 8.5% it is big on flavor bust still pretty easy going down. 4.25

Overall this is a really nice beer and a great change of pace. Foam Brewers rarely let you down and this one is no different. Really a interesting treat. 4.25

I believe low/no carbonation has always been an issue (or perhaps “feature” might be a better word) with that brewer.

Taste follows coconut, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, and vanilla. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than medium, soft gentle carbonation, maybe a little dry, and at 8% it goes down very easy. 4

Overall I wish it had a little bigger body and better retention, but the flavor and smell are really nice and I would recommend for sure. Sleep well all. 4.25
