I LOVE MoAS... Sadly, I have not had a newer version in a while (since they changed their label). I must dig one out of the cellar soon.

    One last one...
    Hello Late Night NBS
Thanks to @MacMalt for this great American take on a Maibock.

Ramstein Maibock by High Point Brewing Co.

Pours a deep ruddy amber to brown in hue. Off-white foam caps her off at 2 fingers. Great retention. Slight lacing.
Aromas of lightly sweet brown bread, subtle caramel malt, floral noble hops, and then back to the malts which now hint at a toastiness.
Taste is sweet first. Again the caramel malt note comes in. But also ever so slight roasted grain, a mild hint of fruit, & some peppery/herbal hop notes.
Mouthfeel is oh so smooth, light carbonation, finish is a gentle tapering off of the sweets with a mild herbal/peppery note that gives way to a slight drying finish.
Overall, the malts are the star of the show, but I love the depth and subtlety of the hops.

Last new beer for the weekend (as it''s creeping past midnight EST right now, although I've probably got a few more hours of drinking in me ... :grinning: ). And when you're craving something dark and rich, but not a stout, where do you turn?

Yes, a Dunkel. Schönram Dunkel, specifically.

(As a note, the label has changed, but this appears to be the exact same beer.)

Summary: this is good, and impressively rich. The body is incredibly full and creamy for only 5% ABV, and that matches the flavor profile. However, a few perceived "off" flavors detract somewhat, in particular: strong minerality, cardboard (beer appears to be fresh, as well), and even a hint of butterscotch - not quite rising to diacetyl levels, but still.

Oh, and the appearance is crud. Poor head production and retention, again on a fresh beer, and while the hue is quite nice, the body is a bit murky.

    So that's the bad.

    The good?

Well, like I said, it's very rich. Huge fruity yeast notes up front, reminiscent of a Belgian Dubbel or a German Doppelbock. Cola, prune, dark bread, banana bread, and nuts, in varying degrees of prominence and order of appearance.

Oh, and that mouthfeel is ::insert chef's kiss emoji::.

Overall an enjoyable beer, but it looks like I'm winding up the Sunday portion of this NBW with a third straight -rDev. Every single one enjoyable, though, and that's what matters.

    Evening all.

I've only had one new beer this weekend, and it came courtesy of @JayORear and his numerous assaults upon my porch during NBS BIF #13:

Pretty delicious beer, I must say. Canned in March, but still holding up well, as I suspected it would at 10 % abv. If I'd drank it blind, I'd have probably sworn there was lacto in it, as it was a little reminiscent of a creamsicle, but that was not the case.

And, yeah, that is a TIPA from Trillium despite Jay being a PA based BA. Although he well-peppered my liver with numerous outstanding beers that were local to him, he also shot no less than three Trillium TIPAs at me. He is a maniac. You have been warned.
