Anytime! I’m still debating it, saving for a house so my budget is a little tight but should see what my raise for this year looks like before the sign up ends.

Thanks a bunch for your courage on this one.:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Now that I know a wee bit about bourbon and rye, it makes sense that the rye barrels would add just that bit more to the beer. But as you more or less point out: It's Old Raspy. It's good.

    Cheers!

Last one for the evening/weekend. Another one courtesy of @WunderLlama - this one is Bissell Brothers - Stay Gold.

Pours a hazy, completely opaque, matte, drab orange color. Two to three finger head forms on the beer, dissipates and then settles in with just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of mango, papaya, orange, with a strong, overly ripe character. There is a bit of a certain dankness to the beer with grassy, weedy, vegetal notes coming through.

Taste follows the nose with notes of overly ripe fruits - mango, papaya, peach, orange - before giving way to a strong vegetal, weedy hop finish. The vegetal character is not very enjoyable for me and takes away from everything else which is otherwise nice. Feel is medium bodied, fuller, and a bit heavier. Lighter carbonation but with a prickly feel to it.

Overall this is decent - the strong vegetal notes I was getting from this were just not what I want from my beer.

Y'all's Live Oak discussion got me thinking then researching. FWIW my own numbers are:

    Pilz 4.4
    Hefe 4.34
    Pre-War Pils 4.09

The Pre-War Pils is a fun experiment, but it's not the brewery's example of what a good pils should taste like. That's the Pilz, and IMO it's about as good as it gets for a canned/bottled American version.

    Cheers!
