Next up is a beer sent by @Harrison8. Wish you Would from Alma Mader Brewing in Kansas City. Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a transparent yellow with a good amount of white head. Good carbonation and lacing. Nose is resin right from the gun. Citrus peel, grass, leather, and pine. Very crisp and fresh on the nose.

Taste follows the nose nicely. Dank, resin, pine, citrus peel, leather, and wheat. The taste is straight to the point. It's very good at what it is. Definitely Pliny style!

Mouthfeel is light and crisp. The ABV really doesn't come through on the taste. Overall, this is a fantastic take on the West Coast style.

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

Thanks for sending this one, @Harrison8!

Looks like I might be the one closing this down tonight. Whoda thunkit?

Tonight is a new to me beer

    Odell – Barreled Treasure

    11% ABV

The beer is listed as an “Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon and Rum barrels with Cold Brew Coffee Added” on the bottle, and “Stout – American Imperial” on BA.

The beer was removed from a 45ish degree temp fridge after having been refrigerated for approximately 1 year. Beer poured into a nonic pint.

First Impression: Looks like your everyday stout. 4.0

Appearance: Classic stout. Dark, Rich, and a khaki head that does not immediately disappear. A very inviting beer. 4.35

Smell: Coffee, coffee grounds, and peppers up front, followed by sweet cream, chocolate, malt, and maple syrup. The maple with a hint of vanilla really comes through towards the end as you breath heavily through your nose, exhaling out your mouth. 4.25

Taste: This is actually quite enjoyable, but for the style I wouldn’t say it is well done. It says that it is barrel aged, but I would never get that from the taste. Taste is pretty much one-note: Coffee, which is given some backup by chocolate and roasted malt. 3.75

Mouthfeel: Thin for what I’d prefer, but I’m not sure exactly what is considered ‘to style’ in this case. It’s a tad bit too carbed for my preference; I think I prefer stouts a bit more still. While that is a personal preference, I think, to a degree, that is common across the style. 3.75

    Overall
: I enjoyed this, but I enjoyed this as a coffee stout, not as a BA stout, or a BA stout with coffee. While I am quite surprised that this wasn’t a pepper bomb, which I am grateful for, I still wish that they didn’t use cold brew. It always thins out the beer. I much prefer for them to use the beans directly. But, complaint aside, again, this is a pretty enjoyable beer. It has gone down quicker, easier than I expected/intended. 4.00

    BA Review Score: 3.956

When I went to review this, I noticed that there were very few reviews, but one of them just so happened to be by the great @beergoot . It looks like our total scores were almost identical, although our numbers were flip flopped, with his taste and feel higher, while instead my look and smell were higher.

Very sorry. It's amazing how they become a part of our soul the same way many humans will. They give so much to us, and it's only fair that we give back to them (and grieve for them). A couple years back I lost my cat after over 23 years. That was very hard. 23 years is a long time - even for a normal adult at the end of their life, that's a quarter of your life. That's a long time.

Here's to all those we love.
