    16 ounce can.
    Canned 10/28/21.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch white head over a hazy, straw colored body with scant lacing.

Nose of citrus (orange, tangerine) with a hint of floral aromas as well.

Taste mirrors nose closely with the orange taking over.
    Highly crushable and quite delicious!

More than decent feel with a lager like finish.

Overall, a tasty beer reminiscent of a ale/lager hybrid.
    Cheers!

Back for my second offering, this one a Christmas ale to go along with @jonphisher and his 4 Sundays to Christmas theme.
Not a surprise for me to find this one on the shelves, but it did surprise me that it was a straight up Scotch Ale.
Poured darker than expected (but not as dark as the picture) and had little head or lacing. Still looks good.
The aroma was very malts driven, I kept thinking I would smell nutmeg or cinnamon or something but no, this smelled like a scotch ale.
The taste followed, certainly it’s not Arrogant Bastard but lighter and crisper, easy drinking as it was.
The feel was less viscous than expected, but perfectly fit the flavors.
OA, I think I will pick up some more of these. They should cellar well I think.

    Cheers all!

Thanks to @jkblr for kicking things off yesterday. I'm getting super excited for next week's tasting!! I'm starting with Innis & Gunn Vanishing Point 04. Aged in bourbon barrels for 450 days.

Poured from fridge temp into a big snifter. Pours jet black with a bit of light brown head. The nose is very nice. Tons of fudge and milk chocolate. Vanilla and bourbon, along with some fluffy marshmallow and toffee. Wow. This is a fantastic nose. As it warms a bit, I'm starting to get a touch of molasses. Not a lot of dark fruit, but a slight hint of blackberries.

Taste nicely follows the nose, but there is a strong taste of roasted malts. Dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow, sweet toffee, ice cream, raspberries, blackberries, figs, molasses. This is loaded with amazing flavors! Absolutely love it. There is a slight bitterness (wood) note on the back end, but this is mostly sweet from start to finish.

Mouthfeel is definitely on the thick side. Perfect, in my opinion. Overall, an absolute winner for me. Cheers!

After a week or so off due to covid I needed a NBS fix. Even moreso due the horrible football Ive had to endure by this Giants team again. Of course I have next weekend to look forward to- My Son and I at Metlife to watch the Gints/Cowboys...
Proclamation has a way with TIPAs...
    Full Pomp
Pours a hazy orange/gold with 2 fingers of lovely creamy white head with excellent retention and tons of lacing.
Smell is of peach, pineapple, mango, orange juice.
Tastes all of the above with an intial slight sweetness morphing into a firming bitterness of mostly grapefruit with a touch of pine.
Feel is soft, creamy and drying on the ever so slightly oily finish. Very little hint of 9.5%.
Super tasty and easy to drink. I may even have another.
Another TIPA winner from Proclamation. Seems they can do ni wrong with this style. Good beer.[IMG]

12oz canned 8/20/21 ( about 4 months ago) poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 9% ABV 13 IBU. The beer opaque peach colored amber with bone colored head. Spotty lacing. The head recedes to a thin ring and island. The aroma is mild with notes of sweet malt, honey, oak barrel and spice. The taste is semisweet pale malt with honey, vanilla, oak and spice. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, tasty pale Belgian Strong.

    Cheers all!

16 ounce can with no date, but we just rec'd this beer last week,

Moderate pour yields a fast disappearing, one inch tan head with no lacing.

Nose of dark malt and chocolate.

Taste mirrors nose with a bit of salt from middle to end.
Finish is bitter chocolate with a very slight saltiness.

With no head at all the mouthfeel is a little disappointing.

Overall, this is tasty, but appearance and feel bring score down.
    Cheers!!

    Hi NBWs
A rare 2 new beer day for me
    [IMG]

Fog Weaver from Magnanimous Brewing out of Tampa Fl.
    Double dry hopped DIPA
Citra, Chinook, and Pacific Sunrise hops 8.5 abv

pours cloudy yellow soapy white head and soapy lacing
aroma of citrus, pine and a hint of rye. little bit of lemon lime and grapefruit. A slight dankness note.
Taste is juicy citrus rind and stone fruit tasting, a bit of rye come through on the back end. Not real piney tasting .
mouthfeel is on the astringent side, medium carbonation. Chunky mouthfeel, good flavor layers, kind of sticky on the back end and finishes with a citrus rind bite.
Overall there is a lot going on with this one, it drinks easy, no alcohol burn and has a bunch of flavors. The rye note is a nice touch.

Good early evening. Great day today with the grandson. Children's pageant at church, made Christmas trees with solar lights and upside down tomato cages that actually look kinda like Christmas trees. Dragged our tree into the house and it's only leaning a little...yeah..lets go with that.. Two walks in the woods, tracked at least one deer before the tracks got a tad confounded. I sneak out and put ornaments in the woods, so he is now looking for the faeries, elves. or gnomes who are having Christmas parties...

    Tonight's victim:

Boulevard Stuff of Legend. It implies Oreos, but the Swiss Miss will have to do for scenery. Big, BA stout with chocolate, vanilla, lactose so the notes say. It may be an ideal beer for me, too...it has a "best buy" date out in 2023...not that I have old beers hanging around...

Pours black, fleeting khaki head. Eventually (quickly) there is a ring of Don Ho bubbles and a small island in the middle of the cup.

Smells a tad bit boozy. Not particularly bourbon-like. Definitely some vanilla, I think milk chocolate, and slightly sweet. Woody, can pick up the barrel for sure. Kind of a molasses note as well. The malts are pretty much in the background, but they hold their own once you find them.

Ok...it tastes boozy and clearly bourbon-like, and oaky. He somewhat vague aroma- yeah that isn't happening in the taste. That's the initial salvo and it is a vigorous onslaught. The vanilla dares to peek out just a little. The roast malts that are in the background are significantly more assertive on the taste - gives a clear stout identity. Mild sweetness. The chocolate isn't as milk chocolate as I thought, more bitter and richer. Oreo...yeah, I can see that but it takes a bit of convincing. Not screaming Oreo, more like making the suggestion.

Feel is medium, a bit of sweetness sticks on the lips. It isn't really hot, but the alcohol is obvious. Pretty low carbonation but not out of bounds for the style. Sweet but also slightly dry, a charred acrid feel well after the swallow

Overall, it's a good brew if a bit too heavy on the barrel. I believe it will improve with age. I'm not enthusiastically drinking it down...sipping my way through and thinking about it. Feeling 3.8 or so right now. Needs to meld, IMHO. Be interesting to see how it ages - I have six more as we grabbed two four packs. The missus had one last week...and liked it a lot. Something going on there...she doesn't like bourbon at all and not one bit, but barrel aged stouts are high on her list and Allagash Curieux is one of her faves...

Joining @Whyteboar, my 2nd holiday beer for the 2nd weekend of December. Sitting by the tree sipping on this tasty beer.

Deschutes - Cherries Jubelale (barrel aged winter warmer with cherries and vanilla)

Pours a murky dark brown, like dark wood brown. Held up to light only the edges light up ever so slightly with a hint of red. The head recedes slowly to a thick ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.

Rich dark fruit aromas, spices, those necco wafer candies (the chocolate one), black licorice, I even want to say a smell something reminiscent of coke without the sugary sweetness. There is a lot going on here all in harmony and it makes for an interesting beer.

Tastes is a rich malty strong ale at first, it’s like a spicy fruit bread. Then the cherry hits, not so much in your face but the aftertaste and feel is of cherry skins. There is not much barrel present, it more adds oak than anything else for me.

Medium body beer, a pleasant very subtle sour feel from the cherry, and a grain/husk like bitter note. There is no heat but their is a very subtle alcohol feel in the nasal cavity. It makes for a pleasant beer to take small sips of.

Tasty beer right here, the exact type of beer I like to enjoy on a Sunday night while slowly drifting off into another work week.

Have a great week everyone! Already looking forward to next week.

Yes - that series. One thing with Allagash is the specter of expectations - in my mind, the name implies a certain standard that maybe taints my view a bit but I did rate one (No. 4) a 2.9...that's a truly dismal score from me...and combined with tastes of several others in the lineup its enough to say I'm not spending any more of my money on the series.

Have a good NBS, been pretty busy with work and hobbies as usual. Got 5 hours of streaming done with Journey to the Savage Planet, plus I want to start doing some more youtube content soon. Got some old phones around to use as cameras with open source software. Julia was supposed to move in this weekend but got strep, so I got the flight moved to Friday morning and truck for Saturday! I paid off all my bills and cards with plenty more to bank in savings. She is all I need left for life truthfully.

Review the last of the spritzer pack. Just as good as the other ones mostly. Aromas and flavors of strawberry, pineapple juice, citrus zest, with light wheat crackery malt and herbal/peppery hops. Light-moderate herbal/grassy/peppery bitterness on the finish. Getting maybe a little coconut or vanilla? Aromas were a lot more vibrant on the authentic strawberry and pineapple notes than the flavors. Well carbonated, crisp, and clean. Very dry finish. Light body with a touch of pilsner-like graininess. Refreshing. Tastes like whatever the base beer is for summer shandy, but cut with seltzer. 3.68

Stone Xocoveza Tres Leches, 8.5% ABV; 3.67 overall

Pours an effervescent hazel/mahogany color with 3 fingers of mocha head ( I didn't think I poured it that aggressively ). Below average head retention & lacing

S: Vanilla, cocoa & coffee once warm, none in copious amounts, plus cinnamon, that does become the only thing I can smell

T: Coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, some pepper spice & lactose dryness up front. More dryness, coffee & chile notes, a little vanilla & cocoa as this warms. Finishes dry with some charred notes, vanilla & cinnamon

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, body thins a touch as it warms

Not one that really wowed me, solid, but no one flavor really popped until the end & not for the better; the body was meh

This beer pours a golden straw color with just the slightest bit of hop haze and a dense white head that is a lacing machine. The nose is crammed full of dank citrus notes, with tangerine, mango, and pineapple most prominent.

Delicious tangerine flavors lead the taste, with the mango and pineapple joined by a lychee flavor that works really well. The mouthfeel is very dry, per the WCIPA style. This beer is definitely in my sweet spot for hop-forward beers.

Good evening NBS. I had this one while making dinner for my family. I'm a sucker for any new Czech imports so when my local shop got some new beers from Samson I had to pick them up. First up is Samson 1795 Original Czech Lager. Ill be back shortly with a full review of their dark lager.

Pours a crystal clear bright gold color. Thick, full four finger whitehead forms on the beer. Head lingers, then dissolves, but retains a full thin layer of velvety foam on top of the beer. Aroma has notes of sweet bread, straw, a touch of minerality, grassy, spicy saaz hops, and some very light buttery notes. Its a very classic and traditional aroma for a bohemian lager. Most importantly, although its in a green bottle, there are no signs of skunking ... yet.

Taste follows the nose with notes of straw, sweet bread, hints of honey, a distinct minerality, all giving way to lovely spicy, herbal hops coming through on the back end. Although I got a bit of a buttery note on the nose I am not getting anything in that vein in the flavor profile. Also, again, no skunkiness in the profile. This is a delight and the profile is exactly what I would expect from a Czech pilsner - This holds its own with the best Czech pilsners I have had. Feel is crisp, lively, smooth, and buttery. Easy drinking - almost refreshing. Bright carbonation.

Overall an excellent Czech pilsner. The freshness of these bottles certainly helps, but even so, its an outstanding beer. This easily stands up with the my favorite examples of the style.

Next NEW beer is Ryeway to Heaven (2020 can). Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice dark brown with little head.

Nose is toffee, bourbon, sherry, raisins, figs, and nice malts. Incredible.

Taste is phenomenal. Huge amounts of toffee, bourbon, malts, maple, wood, and a nice nutty flavor. Wow - just wow. This is amazing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Nice sweet finish. Overall, this is incredible. Perfect barrel presence. ABV is huge, but not detectable on the taste. Dangerously smooth. I'm a big fan!
