Oh and speaking of snack food @cavedave this is a go to favorite dessert leaning one of mine: Graham cracker, peanut butter and chocolate pieces or chocolate chips.

I know very different than popcorn but you shared your recipe. There’s mine if you can call it that :stuck_out_tongue: it’s a winner. I put tomato powder on our grocery list

I'm just lovin' these brews from this crew. Happy NBW & Cheers!

    by LesDewitt4beer from Minnesota
16.9oz bottle mfg date 21 Dec. '21 into an imperial pint glass.
L: Pours pale lightly cloudy straw yellow w/a 1/2 soapy 1/2 creamy white 2" head with creamy retention. Low carbonation & light lacing.
S: Lemon fruit & zest, baked lemon flat cake/bars, faint breadiness, caramel, a suggestion of lightly toasted malts.
T: Yeasty lemon juice, lemon rind, floral & clean, bright, simple and well balanced. Subtle grassiness. Pale malts throughout.
F: Semi-juicy, slick, light bodied mouthfeel w/a fairly fast & gently drying finish. Overall very smooth w/a short linger.
O: A very fresh tasting & lemony light bodied American Pale Ale. It is simple and in parallel with other examples from Maine Beer Co. in that it tastes natural. This beer, again, has the defining characteristics of lemon. It's hops/malts are very well balanced and it is outstanding in it's style.

I have not purchased a Maine beer in quite some time. Your posts here this weekend have got me thinking it’s time to buy a bottle next time I see some. Thank you sir! I remember I used to love buying MO when I would find it.

Cheers brother! Yeah their Mo is great as well as Lunch and Wolfe's Neck. I could nail myself to a bar that had it on their fountain...:stuck_out_tongue:

Next new beer is This is Not a Caipirinha from Japas Cervejaria out of Brazil. This is part of the Extreme Beer Box.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a transparent yellow with a little bit of white head. Lots of bubbles throughout. Nose is grassy, lemon zest, leather, and a bit of pine needles.

The taste is nice and follows the nose. Lemon, sour patch kids, wheat, and bread. Super smooth. Mildly sour - a great level for this beer. I really like this one! It's nicely refreshing. Was a bit surprised that the ABV was so high. Doesn't drink like that.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Overall, this is a fantastic sour.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 2/10/22. Pours near pitch black with a half finger sticky white head that leaves a few streaks of lace, with solid retention. 4.25

Aroma is cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, hints of coffee, and toffee. 4.25

Taste follows chocolate, vanilla bean, coffee, and toffee chocolate is the lead but all the other flavors lend a hand. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than average, soft carbonation wish it had more, maybe a tad dry, and at 9.8% it drinks a little smaller. 4

Overall really nice nose and flavor, but I wish it had more carbonation and a bigger body. Still a nice stout, but for the price I wish it had more. 4

    Tonewood Brewing -- Blackbird
    Dark lager
4.0% ABV; pouring temperature: 43 F; canning data: unknown
    Source: @jonphisher - thanks, brother...!!!

    3.67/5 rDev -4.9%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Tar-black body, opaque; thick, foamy head, billowy and off-white in color. Strong black patent malt note riding atop the roasted grain smell. Thin taste; mild charred grain with a moderate bitterness. Light body; watery; slightly astringent with a touch of dryness.

This is an easy drinking beer and has a fantastic appearance. The taste is good yet seems somewhat weak, the same with the mouthfeel. I do like the low ABV and certainly would drink more of this if given the chance.

    ---------------------------

...low ABV beers with some semblance of taste are too far and few...I do like this beer overall...

Great to see you pop in and are doing well. Truth be told you and Maria were always an inspiration to me when I first lurked in NBS. I learned alot and it really helped me to hone my skills.
I dig this quote. I have no Idea who wrote it.
    Dear Patricia,

    Your courage, strength compassion and love;
everything you need is already within you."

Oh for sure! If my wife will actually let me out of her site to go find some ... Im sure @Roguer will back me up on this, but Miami is decidedly not a beer town. So its weird - it can be hard to find a good selection, but when you do, it tends to be really good since no one wants it ... Last time I was there I stumbled on a bunch of BA Funky Buddha stuff - I was so excited - and the guy at the Total Wine was laughing because he couldn't sell it to anyone.
    You know it!
Thats a dude I miss around here ... he hasn't been around since that BIF.

I've always liked this quote (which I will paraphrase) from To Kill A Mockingbird.

"Real courage is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what."

    Hello Patricia,
From some guy in West Michigan that you will likely never meet, but you come well represented.
Hoping and praying for your healing and continued health, a chance to swap bad puns with friends for years.
    Cheers!

As happens in the BIFs, a couple brews he sent me got lost in the pile. I checked into them, and tagged him when I did, but somebody else messaged me and said he had stepped away from the site. He's a good dude, I hope all is well.

    Mystic Mama by Jackie O’s

I’ll cut to the chase on this good looking beer in the glass - I did not care for the malty backbone. After the nice pour, great foamy head and lengthy lacing, the body proved too sweet for me. Nose promised pineapple that didn’t carry over to the taste. Bitterness was adequate with a bit of pine, but the sweet malt felt too much.
Given the bona fides of the brewery, I’ll seek another can and hopefully a tapped beer to make sure I didn’t get a renegade can.

    Another Connecticut beaty from @sulldaddy

Counter Weight/Victory Weight of Victory Vienna Kager, 5.5% ABV; 4.11 overall

Pours an effervescent amber with a sliver of fast-falling beige head. Traces of lacing & head retention

    S: Rich breadyness, grainyness, lime

T: Follows the nose, some dryness as well up front. More sweet breadyness, lime & a little grainyness along with dryness once warm. Finishes dry, toasty with lime

MF: Medium body slight carbonation. Body thins a little & carbonation picks up, good balance

Drinks pretty easy, solid take on the style

Jackie O’s bourbon barrel stout with vanilla and coffee beans
    [IMG]

Another flavor miss for me from a brewer that makes several of my favorite barrel aged stouts. At the heart of the matter is the balance between barrel, coffee and vanilla. To my tastes, there is way too much vanilla. Your mileage may vary. Perhaps more age would diminish the vanilla, but they make so many good stouts that I’ll likely not seek this one out again. Vanilla mavens might adore this beer. Not me.
