    Paid $8.95 at the brewery

Bottle poured into a cheap plastic hotel nonic

Brewers Notes: Our Tripel was inspired by the hard working Artisan brewers in monasteries across Belgium. It is said that the Belgian Tripel is regarded by the Belgian ale drinker as a style itself. Our Tripel is a pale colored ale made with Pilsen malt and a traditional addition of Belgian candy sugar, then hopped with German Noble and Saaz hops. This ale has a light malt nose and a ubtle hop aroma.

Bright yellow liquid with a big, dense, and creamy three finger white foam crown. .

Aroma is spicy phenols, clove, cinnamon

Taste is clove , with a hint of a sweet orange citrus finish.

Mouthfeel is sudsy, a hop tanginess lingers, semi dry finish

    Good beer

    Duclaw Irish Cream Dessert Stout

16oz can with unreadable stamp poured into an imperial tulip pint glass at 57° Fahrenheit 9.4% ABV. The beer pours pitch black with no light penetration and sticky mocha colored head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a ring around the glass. The aroma is mild with sweet notes of caramel, creamed coffee and lactose. The taste is semisweet caramel with restrained roasted malt before sweetened & creamed coffee crash in. No real bitterness, but the roast and coffee are just enough to stop things short of cloying. The mouthfeel is full bodied with less than medium carbonation and a thoroughly undry finish. No evidence of the ABV in the nose or taste. Overall, pretty well done for what it is. Plainly labeled as a dessert stout and has to be considered as such.

Stick a fork in me (or this stout:wink:), I'm done. Should have no trouble being sleepy tonight. Alarm set for 0400. Cheers all!

I bought this when I stopped at Fremont for Brew 6000 this morning: Head Full of Dynomite version 36.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Dated 03/01/22.

Big, fluffy, stiff head, opaque pale golden color. Lots of fine, slow active carbonation. Smell is melon rind, citrus pith, vague juiciness. Resinous.

Taste is leaning toward very ripe honeydew, a little bubble gum. More vague juiciness.

Mouthfeel is soft and fluffy. Overall, it's pretty good, but not the height of HFoD.

Pours a very hazy straw color with a sudsy white head that evaporates in seconds. The nose is dank citrus, with a big dollop of grapefruit rind that is reminiscent of fresh grapefruit served at a breakfast brunch.

That is the flavor that is prevalent throughout the taste, a juicy, slightly bitter grapefruit rind that works well for my palate, and it is definitely a fresh hopped APA , but the flavor profile is a bit “one note.” A bit of malt would provide balance and improve this quite a bit, IMHO.

[IMG] Frost Beer Works Research Series Heat Check. Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 3/02/22. Pours an attractive dark yellow with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves loads of thick streaks of lace. 4.25

Aroma is tangerine, passionfruit, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4

Taste follows tangerine, passionfruit, apricot, and grapefruit. 4

Mouthfeel is above medium, plenty of life, not sticky or dry, and at 8% pretty big flavor but very approachable. 4.25

Overall this is a really nice NEDIPA. 4

it’s late here, especially considering I’m apparently now a year and a week older than I thought I was.

So I guess I’ll have a dessert stout from a brewery that I quite like for their lighter, more classic styles, Vibrissa. Sure, it also breaks my concept of a beer y’all might see at some point, but oh, well.

So, since the “neon” is illegible, Vortex is a pastry stout brewed with coconut, hazelnut, and raspberry. Ocelot (where the brewer was previously) did some big beers, but didn’t branch out too far from standard additions (coffe, cocoa, vanilla, etc).

Raspberry shines in the nose on this higher ABV beer that doesn’t lose its head immediately (though the froth it produces isn’t prodigious, either). It seems Jammy though leaning syrupy, but I think ABV (a respectable 9.5%) and coconut are playing into that.

Taste has a raspberry hard candy leaning, with a decent sweet chocolate alongside it. The sweetness isn’t thick, and has a vibe of brownie mix and hot chocolate. Coconut and/or hazelnut, combined with a decent amount of yeast byproduct, provide a bit of an extract flavor. The tart jaminess of the raspberry cuts through this well enough, though.

Not too bad - a flavored stout on the sweet side of the line, but within sight of a classic stout, if it isn’t too nearsighted. It’s good enough to keep me curious in other flavored stout offerings by the brewer.

    Chocolate Volcano
    [IMG]

    9% stout by Heavy Seas

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle, the pour was a solid black. Small initial head and subsequent minimal lacing.

Aroma was as advertised: a lava flow of chocolate. Smells great to me like Founders Fudgiosity (found perhaps under the name of KBS Mackinaw).

Taste follows nose. Only a very light bitterness added. ABV is well masked; something that might be a welcome addition to balance the chocolate.

Mouthfeel was a bit thin for my preferences and expectation for a 9% stout. Carbonation was fine, moderate.

I’m unlikely to buy this one again given the plethora of good chocolate stouts. Perhaps if in Maryland and I see it on tap I might try a draft.

I got you, bro; 0300 here, and I'm 98% certain I will be up before my alarm (also I hate waking up my partner just because I have to get up stupid early).

I wish I could take a sleepy pill, but it's way too late for that. Have to hope that alcohol is good enough.

Cheers to another early morning BAs!

    Lets get weird!
I believe this is my third "blue" beer - I had one from Evil Twin and one that @WunderLlama sent me as a mystery beer so I forget who brewed it, but I want to say it was Vitamin Sea?

Anyway, this is Burley Oak Brewing Co. - J.R.E.A.M. - Blue Raspberry Sno-Ball

So it is a weird color - it is more like a blueish green than straight up blue. It is certainly a very unique color for the beer. There is a thin blue-tinged white head that forms on the beer before quickly dissipating. Aroma has notes of sour, tart berries, raspberries - kind of like sour patch kids. That's really it ...

Taste is really a lot of the same. There are notes of of that sour, tart blue raspberry flavor. Its artificial tasting, but in the sense that all blue raspberry is artificial tasting. There is a light wheat malt base that peeps through the sour notes reminding you that this is, in spite of everything to the contrary, actually a beer. Its remarkably one note, but does accomplish that one note extremely well. In terms of the feel, its lighter bodied, brightly carbonated. It is sour and tart enough to produce a pucker.

Overall this is an interesting and unique beer. It accomplishes what it sets out to very well so it certainly deserves credit for that.

Aroma is coffee grounds, vanilla bean, and milk chocolate. 4.25

Taste follows coffee stands out, vanilla, and cocoa. 4

Mouthfeel is about medium, not sticky or dry, really soft carbonation, and at 8% it drinks too easy and a tad watery. 3.5

Overall some might love this, it very tasty and smells excellent, but little watery for me. 3.75

More BIF #14 beer! Again from @WunderLlama! 617 from Lord Hobo.

12oz can served in a footed pilsner. I think the date says 12/22/21, but it's pretty difficult to read.

Pours a fairly hazy light amber, big creamy head that leaves an interesting, thick, inverted leopard-spot pattern along the sides of the glass. Smell is pretty mild, mostly dominated by melon and a little bubble gum.

Taste is fairly mild, but going hard into the bubble gum. A little bit watery.

Mouthfeel is light, thin. Overall, it's pretty good.

Aroma is woody oak, char, leather, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, and bourbon. 3.75

Taste follows the bourbon hits first, oaked vanilla, char, leather, and dark chocolate. 3.75

Mouthfeel is above medium, soft carbonation, a little dry, and at 11.3% you know you are drinking something from the barrel. 4

Overall the barrel totally takes over and for my preference a little boozy with plenty of other flavors, but they kind of get lost. 3.75 Sleep well all.

Gonna have to be my last new beer of the weekend. Sorry to disappoint, @FBarber.

But, it's yet another IPA from @WunderLlama! Angelica, from Lord Hobo. Clocking in at pale ale territory, 5.5% abv.

12oz can served in a footed pilsner. Canned on 12/17/21.

Pours a hazy pale yellow with a big fluffy head. Smell is hay and citrus, mild resin. Mostly lemon.

Taste is mild, lemon, creamy. A little bit of a grainy flavor.

Mouthfeel is light, almost airy. Overall, it's a pretty good beer.

This beer is not much to look at. Ugly looker. Not much of head even with a aggressive pour.
Smell is ok for the style.
Taste is good. Bourbon, coconut, chocolate, hint of roasted malt, vanilla and graham cracker. But towards the finish it has a nice butterscotch flavor that I like. Somewhat sweet over all. Almost a 4.25/5 for taste. Fairly smooth beer with a ok mouth feel
