375 ml bottle poured into a tulip

A- A very dark brown with a small tan head.

S- Caramel, whiskey, some brandy, some cherry, figs, slightly earthy, oak, touch of leather.

T- Caramel, figs, some cherries, oak, whiskey, some brandy, toffee, slightly earthy, some leather, some bite for the 15% ABV.

M- Smooth enough for 15%, medium to full body.

O- A well done barrel aged barleywine, nose and finish are a little on the rough side but not too bad for 15% ABV. I feel like time will smooth out the rough edges.

Next new beer is also from BIF 15, this time from @BBThunderbolt. Junior from Structures Brewing.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a murky orange with white head. Lacing is evident. Nose is dank, pine, fresh grapefruit, wet grass, mango, pineapple, and a little bit of pickle juice.

The taste is really nice. Sweet with a touch of hoppy bitterness on the back end. Tropical fruit - mango and pineapple hit first. A bit of citrus peel, pine needles, grass, lime, lemon, and a touch of leather.

Mouthfeel is dry and fairly light. This is a nice and easy-drinking hazy IPA. Thanks for sending!

Clear, mahogany red body; coarse, dense carbonation; thick, frothy head. Malty nose with a nice earthy spiciness; toasted grain and sugar. Outstanding malt-forward flavor; toasted grain; earthy spiciness; dull cinnamon; moderate hop bitterness; slight nuttiness. Medium body; crisp with a slight prickliness on the palate; sticky; some sweetness, some dryness.

This is a very enjoyable amber ale. A bit sweet yet balanced with a rustic earthiness and nuttiness.

First time having this and it's been a while since I've had a TIPA

Dry hopped with Citra, Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy. Vic Secret, El Dorado, Simco, Nelson and Enigma
    Clocks in at 10.6 avb

Poured from a can dated 3/18/22
Yields a hazy orange color m, thin head light lacing and spotty cap

Aroma is overripe peach, pineapple, hint of lime, apricot and cantaloupe

Taste is tropical and juicy, peach and bitter lime are pronounced, floral notes and apricot with a kind of lingering green grape finish

Mouthfeel is soft and sticky up front, chewy and thick, slightly lingering astringent finish. Some bit is noticeable with a prickly carbonation feel through out. No alcohol burn detected

Overall it’s kind of heavy, almost like drinking grapefruit juice, it is creamy up front but ends with a fairly bitter fruit rind finish. Hides the abv very well.

Well, since the damn Mariners insisted on pushing this ball game to the 12th inning, one last new brew seemed in order. From @Roy_Hobbs comes this extremely tasty and drinkable Rye Saison from Forest and Main, Stalks and Leaves. One more thanks to @ovaltine on this share weekend. My goal was three today, here is #3…

    Revolution - PB Eugene

Very nice pouring beer, dark dark brown head formed a nice light brown color. What remains is a nice thin layer of that same color. No lacing.

A nice toasty chocolate aroma jumps out of the can on this one. Peanuty aroma is also present there, it’s just enough to notice it.

Taste is very roast forward and the chocolate reminds me of the chocolate syrup you’d put on a sundae. The peanut note comes off nice at first but then sort of has this odd aftertaste going on.

Great full mouthfeel, creamy carbonation with a really nice roast driven bitterness. Despite the full body this beer drinks very nicely, much easier than you’d expect on that initial sip.

This is a nice beer to close out Sunday night with. I wanted a sipper and I didn’t have it in me tonight to open the 16.5% I was sent that I had planned for, this is a good alternative. Thanks @ovaltine!

If my town has a "Hypebro" brewery, structures is it. Folks get wound about their Murksters and big stouts, but for me their Saisons and, increasingly, Lagers, are what push my buttons.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz goblet not sure when it was bottled. Pours near pitch black with a half finger dark tan head that leaves some thin streaks of lace with solid retention. 4.25

Aroma is dark chocolate, cinnamon, hazelnut, vanilla bean, and spicy sweet rye. 4.25

Taste follows dark chocolate, cinnamon, hazelnut, vanilla, and rye bourbon. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, a tad dry, gentle carbonation, and at 11.9% it goes down rather easy. 4.25

Overall this is a pretty darn tasty stout. I would say definitely worth a shot. Final for this weekend, sleep well all. 4.25

Next up is a new beer from @Whyteboar. Odd Side XII - a huge BA stout with cocoa and vanilla. Comes in at 16.9% ABV.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours jet black with quickly dissipating head. It doesn't look quite as thick as some stouts, but the incredibly high ABV might be dominating! The nose is actually surprising based on the description. I get a lot of roasted malts. Dark chocolate, figs, and blackberries. Not really picking up any barrel or vanilla. Interesting. After a couple of minutes, I start to pick up some black licorice on the nose. A touch of whole wheat bread.

The taste is intense! Wow. So much going on. Huge roasted malts. That's, again, the dominant flavor. I now get the vanilla, and slight bourbon. The dark chocolate is definitely playing a big role. A bit of coffee, booze, black licorice, brown sugar, and an earthy taste. There is definitely a strong bitterness on the back end and throughout the aftertaste. It's a big stout that doesn't hide from its roots. This is not, in any way, a vanilla bomb. It also doesn't play too much to the barrel. It's roasty and smoky.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. As I thought based on the pour, this is not a thick stout. It's fairly thin and boozy. Definitely not a bad thing. Overall, this is a very different BA stout than I was expecting. I really like it! Thanks, Craig!

I've never had Singha so here we are. Lasting head retention and lacing for a pale lager. Very good. Aromas and flavors of lemon, cracker, bread dough, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper. Some fruity dms corn aromas as expected. Lt-med herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness. Med high carb and lt-med body. Bready grainy malts and some sticky hops. Fairly crisp clean refreshing finish. A well made macro feeling Thai lager. Not too heavy on adjuncts. 3.81

I really enjoyed it - the first sip for me literally was a jolt. So much of what I tasted as a smoky note that was actually wood knocked me back, but man was it delicious. That was really fun to try and decipher, and I'd drink it on the regular if I had access to it. Just a lot of flavor in that 6.9% ABV beer.

I don't think it is the same - the previous incarnation was 11.3 % ABV and this guy is only 8.5%. But other than that, they sure seem about the same. Hertl Braumanufaktur is a small private brewery in the Bamberg area - and I picked this up at Die Bierothek, a small beer store in Bamberg near both Fassla and Spezial. David Hertl is the store manager and they usually carry one of his beers - this trip it was this one. Glad you liked it - I always try to pick up some small volume local as well the more mass-produced international samples. Pretty much every town in Bavaria/Franconia has at least one local brewery.

Good evening, folks. A bit of a lazy day here in the kingdom, nice walk of the property but not much else. Corned beef for dinner - we stocked up a few when they went on sale. The Instant Pot does a fabulous job in a fraction of the time it takes otherwise. Pretty much 50 minutes at pressure, pull out the beef, put the vegetables in the broth, another 5 minutes at pressure and time to eat. Tender and not boiled to gray...yum.

This is a blended beer that took a really long time to make - about two years according to the writings. It is a blend of a Belgian Dark Sour Ale aged in bourbon barrels and a Flanders-style sour brown ale. After more than a year of conditioning, the beers were then combined and aged for four months on nearly 4000 pounds of local blackberries and cherries.

Pours a reddish amber color with a creamy tan head about a half inch at its peak. Head falls to crema-like bubbles covering the surface of the glass. It is very clear. Great looker.

The nose promises tartness. Definite cherry and blackberry fruit smell, a bit of a caramel sweet note, plums and maybe dates, a tiny bit of funk and a decent earthy component.

This is a flavor assault. It is fairly tart but not just fruity tart - it is a deeper and more complex tartness with more character than simple fruit acidity. It hits sharp and quick, then moves aside to let the other flavors play. Major league fruitiness that is cherry and blackberry in the forefront with the rest of the band being plums, dates, and raisins. I'm finding some tea-like notes. The fruit flavors are quite fresh initially, then take on a jam-like quality. There is a nice level of oakiness but no real trace of bourbon. At the very end of the taste, there is a caramel/toffee sweetness that eases the whole taste back down to a more sedate level, slight residual tartness, a touch of earthiness, a tad bit of that jammy sensation lingers. A little cidery and maybe a little red wine vinegar. All these flavors roll around nicely, each sip presenting a little differently.

The feel overall is light and bright, medium mouthfeel and a nice creamy feel from that floating layer of foam. Slightly drying, some oaky astringency, a little acetic sting. As powerful as the flavor is on the sip, it doesn't accumulate, fading pretty quickly and inviting another sip.

This beer is just plain good and I can't accurately describe everything going on here. Packed with flavor, assertive on the sour but not excessive, resulting in something surprisingly easy drinking yet as complex as you want it to be. This is easily in the 4.25 - 4.50 range in my opinion. I hope I can find at least one more - took some digging to find one.

After a round of golf, I decided to dig into this beast. Noticing the high ABV I used a tulip glass. Right off before I opened up the beer, I thought it could be a Barleywine or Imperial stout. Opening the can, I notice it was black as night. Pouring the beer into the glass, it glooped out like used motor oil. Yup, this beast is an Imperial stout. The head was medium brown and quick, like a virgin on his special night. Anyways The appearance was not as stellar as I as wanted. But the beer was something different. I am getting ahead of myself. Nosing the glass, I got this odd soy sauce, campfire smokiness with chocolate coffee, vanilla, raisins, and dark roasted malts. My mind was buzzing, this kind of like Dark Lord but smokier. During my first sip, I savored the taste. The beer was laden down with a massive malt bill. Chocolate, vanilla, soy sauce, smoke, campfire, coffee, earthiness, and a slight tobacco note. The mouthfeel was thick and chewy finishing sticky sweet. All I knew, was this beer was an Imperial stout, and not sure what kind. Unwrapping the can like a 6-year-old kid at Christmas. I saw this awesome label with the words Maple Bacon Imperial Stout. That makes sense why I tasted smoke, soy sauce, and a campfire. Alas, I did not taste the maple it comes across as vanilla and caramel. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic beer and I am so thankful for the chance to drink it.
