Simplexity by Ankrolab Brewing of scenic Naple Florida.
Billed by Ankrolab as a Mexican Cerveza.

    According to Untapped;
Mexican Lager brewed with Pilsner and Vienna malts. Flaked corn and Northern Brewer hops. Mexican Lager yeast. Lime oil and Pink Himalayan Salt.

According the beertender at Ankrolab, it is brewed as an Ale, which is noticeable at the finish.

According to me this is a hell of a good beer. Cheers.

An average pour from a 32-oz. crowler (canned at the brewery) produced a fat finger of white fizzy foam with short retention and small spots of lace. Clear golden yellow straw color.

Lime and mint greet the nose with toasted bread and biscuit.

Neutral taste (not sweet or dry) with mild salty bitterness. Lime and mint prevail over a light bready and biscuity malt backbone. Hop flavor is low, minty and herbal. Moderately fast finish but not crisp, similar to a Blonde Ale. Lime and salt linger briefly.

Medium light bodied with soft, lasting carbonation. Smooth and well balanced, Himalayan salt and Norther Brewers Hops are used sparingly. Alcohol is very well hidden. Highly quaffable.

On draft at snake river brewing in Jackson , Wyoming

    New brewery for me

Brewers notes at the brewery : Neipa packed with all the hop goodness you love but none of the bitterness. A combination of citra , mosaic, azacca and Elian other hops create an aroma if intense citrus and stone fruit abv 6%, ibus 38…..This Vermon….er… New England style “Hazy” IPA is brewed with cryogenically frozen hops, sent to save the world from boredom! Citra, Mosiac, El Dorado and Loral hops come together to make a citrusy and floral aroma. A low bitterness and light malt body make this beer very drinkable. “Send a maniac to catch a maniac.”

Draft poured into a nonic , translucent yellow liquid, some carbonation, scant lacings

Aroma of tangerine citrus, bit of floral

Taste is citrus , tangerine, lime

Sudsy , hop taste , no bite

    Good beer

@colts9016 …sorry we couldn’t meet up, you live in a beautiful part of the world

Storms may be rolling through and thankfully that means this humidity leaves, for now, cause we all know summer is coming

Tonight's Sunday Night Sipper comes courtesy of @ovaltine, I was sent plenty of huge beers and this is yet another 16.5% one that I am sharing. I still have several beasts left to slay, slow and steady wins the race.

Transient Ales - King Nerd (adjuncted bourbon stout)

Pours thick as motor oil and dark as night, no real visible carbonation but a small layer of soda like head forms and disappears quickly. If you swirl the glass around it has the appearance of bourbon in a glass, thin sheen of alcohol.

Nose is like a rich chocolate fudge cake, which is interesting cause there is no chocolate in this thing yet the base takes the show from the adjuncts. There is a slight hint of alcohol heat as well as a little bit of banana that show as it warms up.

Taste is again a blast of rich dark chocolate cake, the vanilla really lets itself be shown in the form of giving this a creamy chocolate flavor. Same little bit of banana shows itself on the finish.

This beer is viscous, low carbonation, a nice bitter chocolate like finish and a touch of sweetness that to me probably comes from the vanilla. Absolutely zero in your face heat, there is just a slight nice warming sensation like a warm hug.

As far as adjunct stouts go this is quite good, it is definitely a dessert beer but it actually has quite a bit of balance to it. Still at 16.5% and 16 oz, it is quite an insane serving size even for two. I will sip this as I watch The Battle of Alberta tonight, I'll pull for the Flames @Beersnake1, Johnny Gaudreau is a local guy so I've always enjoyed watching him. Oh and there is some Oiler who is quite fun to watch as well, I forget his name...

I actually had that one in my hand before grabbing the King Nerd I just opened, we almost back to backed that beer like the Hair of the Dog posts from @MNAle and @SABERG which was then later joined by @beergoot

I would jump in a join you but following up even only 8 oz of 16.5% may not be the best idea for me...:grimacing: you know with work tomorrow and all.

    Doppelbock from Lupulin

(Note: I remember liking this when it was first released -split a can with a friend, as I recall- and haven’t tried it in more than a few years. This is mainly because I don’t see the entire Lupulin range as regularly as I do with the range from the more Twin Cities-centric breweries. Also, this one has won some awards since its release.)

    Look
Pours a deep amber-brown in color, perhaps a “golden brown” when held up to a proper light source. Clarity is brilliant, and it’s topped with a medium-dark, tan head. Lacing is good, as is the overall duration.

    Smell
Sweet and bready nose, almost like a loaf of fresh baked, whole wheat bread, but with notes of dark fruits (raisin, fainter plum) just underneath the breadiness.
No overwhelming hop character of course, but it isn’t to be expected for the style. Clean: No sour or off-style notes, here.

    Taste
SWEET! Almost too sweet for me, and doubtless too sweet for many, but with just enough underlying hop bitterness to keep it interesting (and from being too cloying). Likewise, interpretations of this style often run in the sweet to too-sweet range, so it isn’t too far off from several of the brands which hew closer to the style’s benchmark: Ayinger Celebrator.

    Feel
Fully coats the mouth and palate, including the roof of the mouth, and there’s just enough gentle scrubbing carbonation to keep it from being too “slick.”

As noted in the initial aromatic (nose) impressions, there are notes of both dark fruits and bread, but also a lightly red wine / vinous character which is a bit more subtle at first, but which picks up a bit as this one warms.

At 8% ABV it is, again, pretty much on-par for the style (not pushing the boundaries of good taste at 9%+, as with some of the Baltic Porters and so-called Czech “doppelbocks”), and when combined with the sweetness, it may be too much for some drinkers, all in one go. This 16oz portion might therefore very easily serve two people, were they so inclined.

As for myself, I find it to be an easy-drinking experience. Yes, it’s sweet but it’s smoooooth and has plenty of character hidden beneath that 8%.

    Overall
Overall a very good take on the style, and one that I would recommend to others who enjoy the Doppelbock style.

I completely understand - 16.5% ABV beers are ….. a tussle. Thankfully, they don’t present themselves all that much. But the good ones are really fun to drink.

[IMG] BarleyWines aren’t for everyone, but I always love a good one and this SOB was made with love by Sam, Nate, and the crew at Kettlehead Brewing.

Poured into a 16 goblet canned recently, pours a beautiful mahogany with a half finger tan head with solid retention, and leaves thin barbwire streaks of lace. 4.75

Aroma is brown sugar, toffee, fig, oaked vanilla, caramel, and a little bourbon really complex. 4.5

Taste follows brown sugar, fig, toffee, woody vanilla, caramel, and yes the bourbon is around but really well balanced as a whole. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above medium, gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 10.4% it drinks bigger but because of nuances and a new flavor after each sip really easy going down. 4.75

Overall this brewery has been pumping out great NEDIPAs and sours for over 4 years, but this one takes patience and time. This guy right here is old school and truly shows how special these brewers are and how good they are getting at what was once a hobby. Cheers to them for a special beer that will be hard to forget. 4.75

Boulevard Dream Vision Orange Vanilla Ale, 5.7% ABV; 3.43
    overall

Pours a very hazy gold with 3+ fingers of cream colored head. Some lacing & no head retention

S: Some orange notes, plus vanilla

T: Follows the nose, some tart oranges as well, plus dryness. Sweet vanilla & orange, plus a little dryness as this warms. Finishes dry, very sweet with vanilla & a little lime

MF: Medium body, fairly lively carbonation, skews too sweet

Seemed too much like a kid's drink to me if it just had some real balance

First new beer for me today. Buckley from Transient. Compliments of @Whyteboar in BIF 15. Thanks for sending, Craig!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a thick and creamy black with light brown head. Looks incredible. The nose is elegant. Coffee, fudge, vanilla, nuts, and big malts. Milky. The maple is there, but it's not as overpowering as some. That's probably a good thing. This is just a nicely balanced nose with multiple players.

The taste is fantastic. The coffee plays more of a dominant role here. Really nice. Maple hits, along with vanilla. A touch of coconut, chocolate, and some dark fruit. Blackberries come to mind. This is sweet overall, with zero bitterness. Not too sweet though. A bit of wood starts to come through with some time. Maybe a slight hint of roasted malt.

The mouthfeel is fantastic. Super creamy and viscous. Overall, a wonderful stout from Transient. I'm really glad I got to try this one!

One more new beer this evening: Avery's Plank'd, a rum barrel aged coconut porter clocking in at 16% ABV.

With coconut and rum barrel aging, this one threatens to be "too much of a good thing" ... but it's definitely not.

Balanced and rich on the palate, and - unsurprisingly, given Avery's pedigree - remarkably drinkable. This is decadent and delicious.

Point of parliamentary procedure, good sir: where is the nonic "bulge" that I associate with the nonic pint glass? The glass in your pic looks to me like a shaker pint, which is much more common (and my favorite "all purpose" glass).
