Have not seen any talk of this beer on these forums....

I typically think of New Belgium as SLIGHTLY better than Samuel Adams or maybe even Blue Moon....would never think of buying a 6 pack of their beer. But, this Pale Ale is quite amazing. Its hoppier than quite a few breweries ""IPAs"".

One of my top 5 beers of the year.

I got to try it over the weekend. A nice blend of piney hops and biscuity malts. Very smooth and sessionable. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think New Belgium makes all around solid beers, but I certainly did not expect to like this one so much!!! Great to see this instead of another pumpkin beer or Oktoberfest!

I had it the other day and I gave it a 3.64. IMO - not memorable in the slightest.

I mixed it with a little Troeg's HopKnife to add some more hop aroma, and it made the beer much more palatable.

I put a bottle of this in a mix-six I bought yesterday. I am looking forward to trying it this evening.

I like how everyone makes hops a competition... :slight_frown:
Not every beer has to have the most hop presence, not every beer needs to be aged in bourbon barrels. Sometimes something like this is just what I want from a beer, nice aromas and flavors and bit of... crap.. what's that shit called? Oh yeah, balance.

I thought it was a really nice hoppy APA. Good stuff.

Agreed, best all-around hoppy beer I've had from NB, save their Alpine collab.

Count me in as a fan. A nice pale ale to sit back an enjoy a few.

I had one last week. Solid pale ale, yet unremarkable.

I hate and love New Belgium. I do tend to like most of their IPAs and Pale Ales.

I liked it, it was fairly decent. What bothered me was that there was a floral hop note that just didn't seem to belong. If it either didn't have that or had a bit more malt-balance to tone that down a bit, I'd probably have liked it more.

Ranger was the beer that made me an IPA lover.. I have never tasted anything like it.

Agreed - blech!! The fact that the word hops appears in this thread is befuddling...

Couldn't agree more. I had a few mugs of this during my fantasy football draft at a place in Denver in early September and couldn't have been less impressed. Yes, not everything needs to be tons of hops or barrel aged. But it should also taste better than this does in order to be getting this much dap.

Sorry, but I just don't see it. The hop profile is muted and malt backbone is closer to an esb than a pale ale. To me this is mediocre and not close to as good as sierra nevada's flipside

You're comparing apples to oranges. SN Flipside is a "Red IPA", kind of like an amber ale hopped up to IPA levels. Tour De Fall is an altogether different style; it's just a mellow, balanced pale ale. I'd even agree with you that it is more akin to an ESB than a lot of breweries turbo-hopped up "APAs" that are practically IPAs in disguise. Not all pale ales are hop monsters.

I thought it is a great pale ale. One of my favorites. It doesn't rank above Kona Firerock though!
