Ok, ok George, I'll take the mets.
YA GOTTA BELIEVE!!
errrrrrr if they come in last, and you win again......
Only three teams left:
(Martin I think you need help LOL)
Man, I for sure figured the A's would be off the board by now, after last seasons shenanigans.
Granted all three teams are in the middle of the pack as far as odds' go. I totally agree Oakland has a good chance of doing something, and Pitts has a great chance of sucking, this season.
Still, the teams should be picked out of loyalty regardless, I think. I guess there are ashamed Milwaukeeians, Oaklanders, & Pittsburghians lol.
Either way, any team not picked is disqualified from the winnings. So if one of these three teams is the worst team at the end of the season, then no one wins the beer for being the worst team. And if one of these teams (Oaklnad) wins the World Series, no one gets the beer for the Championship either. So it is kind of important every team in the league gets picked. And the same goes for the divisions.
Two more weeks to go before I shut it down (March 30th).
Opening day March 31st 2013:
Evan vs rtaps
Has the idea of one person picking 2 teams if no one else claims them been discussed? You're right...it would really suck if no one picked the best or worst. Just throwing it out there....
Imagine if that person had the ws winner and last place. That'd be one busy delivery man.
This was brought up last season. Only one team per person; sorry those are the rules. I can't believe no one picked the Brewers yet, on a beer site.
In 99% sure you said that last year haha
Maybe it's because they play at Miller Park.
Yea. Step it up Kuhnhenn!!
Alrighty everone, as some of you may know and others will soon find out, Sun mornings is when I update the standings, info, and share my polite & meaningful opinions about the BIF/League. Here is an update on who has who, and which teams are still available.
Red Sox: lokieman
Blue Jays: thee ehammond1
White Sox: sholle
On a side note, if one of these teams does not win the World Series or doesn't come in last in the league there is still an oportunity to win some beer, within the division. If your team wins the division, you recieve beer from the middle three teams, and if your team comes in last in the division you recieve beer from said winner of the division. So if anyone is interested in Oakland, Milwaukee or Pittsburgh let me know in the thread or BM me.
Also, shit talking is very, VERY important in this BIF; so let her rip.
(Except MrVonZipper, he is ruthlessly brutal...and hilarious at times!!!)
Have I been thrown out already??
"Gamechangers, the team that did sooo well in Miami last year."
But yea, I'm a yanks and rays fan, the east is gonna be rough for a while. I'm excited to see how that plays out, and who gets boxes in that division. Good thing I'm not a gambling man and chose any of them.
It'll be weird swing the sox in last in the division.
After much consideration, I figured you can't have the Mets because they are going to come in last this year, and you can't win two times in a row; or I will have to murder the Eagles & Phils.
Red Sox: lokieman
Blue Jays: thee ehammond1
White Sox: sholle
Mets: brooklynbrews (sorry bout that Andrew)
Alright guys last minute side bet, we"ll see if we can get a few people in on it.
Tonight WBC FINAL Puerto Rico vs Dominican Republic guess final score and winner.
Closest score picked with correct winner wins, all who join will ship at least one bottle to the winner.
Bets must be in by the final out of the first inning game
I'll kick it off with DR winning 6-4
if anyone from miami/flordia is seriously intersted in the marlins i would be willing to switch teams
Well knew it was a long shot....LET GO STROS, ganna win me some more beer
Ouch just got off of the xbox. I would have totally gotten in on it at 6-2 Dominican "All-Star" Team.
......hope rtaps moves to the Philly area in Nov.....
RayOhioFelton, you and I are mortal enemies now
gkatsoris, the phillies are to the NL east as the bears are to the NFC North. Theyre pretty decent and its cute when their fans get all excited, but they'll come up short every single time
I'm thinking that's pretty likely, in fact I think I might as well. I can't think of I nicer place to live in November!
I got nothin!
There are still 3 teams available for this BIF:
If You're interested on joining with one of these teams let me know before it's too late.
Crap! Didn't see this posted....Nationals...?
Too late I guess...
...way. Sorry Kev. The three above teams are still avail if you want to get in.
It's interesting that at least two of the three remaining teams could make a serious case for best OR worst this season.
I'll take Pittsburgh. Feels like time for another fire sale.
done and done.
same info as last year?
address change. will BM
I will sell you the Yankees
Especially now that the whole fucking team is hurt. No worries Robinson Cano is still a Yankee and he is twice as good as anyone in baseball
You my friend are a fucking idiot
Nah it's fine, sir. Ill still root for them.
You'd think that, but baseball is one of the few things I actually know and know well.
Yea, if he played like he did in the WBC. I still think Miggie has been the most dominant in the past 2-3 years though. Most batters obviously get better with a big bat behind them, and Cano needs that presence to take some concentration off of him, like Cabrera has Fielder.
Oddly enough, your over exaggeration is not too far fetched. Among qualified hitters since 2010, Cano's WAR total ranks third overall, just a smidge ahead of Ryan Braun. There are probably only 5 players I would rather have on my team than Cano in 2013, and none of them play second base (Trout, Posey, Miguel Cabrera, Harper, and Andrew McCutchen -- maybe Bautista too if healthy and back to form)
Also, NYY has a good shot at the bottom 1-2 slots in the AL East. No way they top Toronto or Orioles this year, and I still believe in the Rays. That leaves a good ole red sox yankees who sucks more this year rivalry. This could be the first time in 20 years that neither the yankees or red sox make the playoffs
