New Braunfels, TX (Jan 2013) - Kelly and Lindsey Meyer, owners and brewers at New Braunfels Brewing Company, are ALL IN. Starting the third week in January, over a quarter million worth of brewing equipment will start to pour in. The Little Brewery in Downtown is getting 15 BBLs bigger.

From the time the Meyers opened their nano-brewery in downtown New Braunfels, they’ve experienced struggle after struggle. The substandard design of some of their equipment combined with a dose of “didn’t know what they didn’t know” left their fledging brewery in a tight spot. Cue brewing industry veteran and self-proclaimed Rogue Greg Scott to make a consulting visit (or 20).

“When we first met Greg, he was a Godsend. He rolled up his sleeves and brewed with us.” Says Lindsey Meyer. “It was during those times that he was like, uh I think you guys need a new system.”

The new brewing system was built in Europe, about 5 hours from Munich by the SK Group, under supervision of Prospero Equipment Corp in New York. The system includes 2-15 BBL fermenters and 2-30 BBL bright tanks, giving the total capacity nearly 1000 gallons. It’s also steam heated for consistency and control and has computer controls to monitor even the smallest details. Room for expansion has been built into the project with hopes that additional tanks will be needed by the end of 2013.

Kelly Meyer couldn’t be more excited about the new equipment. “The last year has been frustrating to say the least. To have recipes that people love and to not be able to make the end product taste like it did during taste-testing will drive you nuts,” said Meyer. “This new equipment will give us the quality controls we need and the volume to ensure consistency. I can’t wait to make great local beer this February!”

Local pubs like The Phoenix Saloon at 193 West San Antonio Street are also excited about the new brewery.

"The Phoenix Saloon prides itself on supporting local craft brewers and for us it doesn't get more local than the The New Braunfels Brewing Company!”, Owner Ross Furtune said recently. “Kelly can walk the kegs round to us himself. We love that level of personal service."

The New Braunfels Brewing Company’s first two releases will be LuftWeiss-The HefeWeizen Of the Sky and FeuerWeiss-The Burning Ale of Fire. Tours and tastings will commence in Late February with Chamber Ribbon Cuttings and Private Events leading up to a grand opening in March.

The Feuerweiss is pretty good. Maybe I should go work there.
