I've heard rumors of this new place. I'm openly putting it out there that one of these new places needs to have a mug club. I can take or leave Sunset. I was hoping that the addition of the Old Hat brewer things would get better, but it seems like the management is suspect. We are on the right track in Kzoo though. More kingdom for the Mayor to preside over!

I don't know as if Sunset blvd is going to last long

Also, excited to try a couple beers from the upcoming guys and see what they are all about!

I've heard the rumors about Arcadia opening in Kzoo but I've never seen that is official. Have they gone public with this info?

I was thinking the same about Sunset. It seems like a cool joint, but there's definitely not the "it" factor (location kinda stinks and I think the interior needs some work), but the beers are decent.

I went to school with the daughter of one of the owners of Boatyard. I hope it works out.

We obviously think alike. I hadn't heard of that, either.

    Any details would be appreciated.

Arcadia is gioing to have a production facility in Galesburg. I don't think there will be a taproom.

Nope. Kzoo. It's been mentioned in fleeting bits of press for the last year. The original brewery was s'posed to be in Kzoo 15 years ago, but BC offered better tax incentives. Tim lives in Portage and considers Kzoo home.
They have been looking at buildings for some time, the only hiccup now being the change in staff in the brewhouse...
But you are correct in no public taproom...at least for now.

Good! I'm trying to get a job at a brewery. Two new opportunities now.

What I had heard was second hand but from enough people connected to the industry I assumed the story had merit.
I am inclined to agree with you. The couple of times I have had their beer it just seemed rushed, and a bit under attenuated. I do hope they can step up their game and become a worthy option. Either way I welcome the possibility of more options downtown, continue to grow the beer scene.

We did a Kalamazoo pub crawl with some friends from Kalamazoo. Sunset was a little under par.

Edit - any of you Kalamazoo guys know these homebrewers that are going pro? The names are not familiar from the big MI local competitions. One thing to be a homebrewer, another thing to make great beer. Maybe they do make great beer.

I can tell you that I have had their beer and it is very good. They will be a nice addition to Kzoo.

Good to hear. I wish them luck on the jump to pro brewing.

If you put this article together with Tim's state of Arcadia video from late last year, it all seems to point in that direction. I had the same thought when I first read that article, it has to be an established brewery. Plus Arcadia is pretty tight with Imperial, and their new distribution warehouse is pretty close to this proposed site. I do wonder what Larry will think of Arcadia moving into the neighborhood (if it actually happens).

Change in staff? Is Josh leaving or already gone? I haven't seen him at the pub in BC for a while, but I figured we're just not crossing paths on different schedules.

This is good to hear, though, and will certainly help establish West Michigan as the craft beer mecca we already know it is.

Yup, Davies and the fam already left.
He took a larger salary, normal work week and equity to be head brewer at a new concept in State College, PA. They moved 3wks ago. Stacey Block is the new Head Brewer.
What he WILL think? More like what he has thought since Arcadia first tried to open there in 96...
Also, yes, Imperial is Arcadia's largest volume wholesaler, and no doubt the Cekolas assisted in making this a reality...especially since their facility is 1/2 mile away, and they don't rep Bell's.
