New Castle, IN Visit

Wasteland.

 

Nothing in New Castle, but I assume he'll be traveling through Indy, so there are some options there. Kahn's on Keystone, Crown or Payless are all decent options.

 

Maybe a Hoops Hop HOF?!

 

20 minutes south in Richmond is New Boswell Brewing...might be worth a stop for a growler of their hoppy wheat. If I remember correctly, it was a good beer. 20 minutes north of NC is Muncie with two new breweries that opened. Wolves Head and New Corner. The latter, according to my brother, is worth the trip.

 

It also begs the question, why would anyone choose to go to NC? (Sorry born and raised there and got the hell out, lol.) Muncie is your best option unless you're going through Indy.

 

Pretty close to Muncie, which actually has a couple of great liquor stores. Friendly Package on Jackson is the best followed by Muncie Liquors on Wheeling.

 

I live in New Castle, tell your friend not to waste the hours of his life... lol

For good beer, your closest bet is Muncie. There are three solid beer bars there, Savage's Ale House, The Fickle Peach and The Heorot. I recommend all of them to the out of towner, because they each have a different atmosphere, clientele and draft/bottle selection to offer.

There are also some decent bottle shops in Muncie, Friendly Package on Jackson Street and Muncie Liquors on Wheeling (as mentioned above) is where I go if I want to shop close to home.

As far as the two breweries in Muncie go, I'm not really familiar enough with them to offer up an opinion. I've not had anything from Wolf's Head and only one beer from New Corner, which didn't impress me at all.

If your friend is passing through Indianapolis, Kahn's on Keystone Avenue and Crown Liquors downtown Indy are generally regarded as the two best craft selections in town and there are numerous options for beer bars and breweries that can be found little effort.
