The new Westbound location and Jade Mountain definitely interest me. Obviously, it'll be cool for River North to return to the neighborhood that gave them their name, too.

On the other side of the coin, Lost Highway closed on Wednesday and it sounds permanent. Not the first and it won't be the last. It's a bummer, but there are a LOT of places in town now. At one time I would go to every new opening within 20-30 miles. Those days are long done.

Went to Tinmath Beerwerks around Christmas and was very happy with what they had... lager was tasty and what it should be lol. ‘Hazy’ ipa was great although it didn’t really appear hazy... that’s insignificant to me — honestly its all about flavor and feel for ya boi. My babe got a kettle sour that she really enjoyed.

Vibe was cool.. folks working were very nice and seemed knowledgeable.. nice feel to the place overall... now that I think of it I forgot to check out the upstairs d’oh

They certainly hit the ground running IMO, which in today’s world is essential. Excited to see where things go from here.

Would be nice to see something new around the Western Slope.

    Cheers!

Crooked Stave has evidently opened their new tap room in Fort Collins...

Gonna take my babe over there tonight for a couple bevs before the Greyboy Allstars show at Washington's tonight... its only about a block and a half away!

Looking forward seeing what they have available and finally try their CBP, IPA, and Von Pilsner on draft!

Fermaentra is closing soon. They're the third Denver-area brewery to close thus far in 2019. Supposedly a brewery with "a fresh and exciting model" will be taking over the space.
No clue what that means or if it's an existing brewery vs. a new one. Could also simply be new to CO, too.
Should be interesting. Whoever they are, they must be doing something VERY different to think that they can succeed where others haven't. In particular, that area seems to be pretty challenging. The businesses are thriving around DU have typically been there for a while. Seems like a tough area to open a new business.

Whatever happened to the Melvin taproom that was supposed to open in Denver?

    Did that happen already???

First I've heard about that in a while.
@flyone - got any new information on Melvin in Denver?

Pretty sure they gave up on the idea after realizing how expensive Denver is.

Just saw that they are opening a taproom up in San Diego, via their Instagram. Someone asked about Denver and based on their response it looks like we got snubbed because of the costs here.

I head what you are saying, but I wonder how Melvin then justifies the San Diego location. It’s not like San Diego is vastly less expensive than Denver, if it is at all. I guess a number of factors could have factored into their decision.

I would have thought that to be a really strong location, it being right there next to the university. Apparently not.

I haven't been there in many 3 or 4 years, ever since my sister moved from that neighborhood, so can't speak to them from a current POV.....but my thoughts on them was that it was a cool spot with decent beer but nothing that was able to stand out for me in the high quality, competitive Denver market. I was happy with it as a local, neighborhood joint but if it couldn't survive on just being that kind of operation, I could see how they could be in trouble. If I was going to go out of my way to visit a brewery it was always going to be (and was) for a TRVE, a Bierstadt, a Comrade, etc. before Fermaentra, personally. Not a knock on Fermaentra so much as a compliment to the other, but that obviously doesn't/did them any good. Sorry to see them go, always a bummer to see a company that is doing something positive go under.

They tried to buy that space and the landlord didn't want to sell it so they're back at square one last time I heard.

For what it's worth, the Mayor of Old Town basically always has Von Pilsner on draft. If you haven't been lately I recommend scoping the taplist there. It's pretty bonkers.

    Also,

Tinmath Beerwerks is going to continue to put out badass beer. Cy's a good pal and drinking buddy and a perfectionist of a brewer. They'll do big things in NOCO.

Was driving down 38th in Berkeley today and noticed that FlyteCo Brewery looks to be close to open. It is right next to the just-opened food-truck-turned-restaurant, Barbed Wire Reef. Google suggests that FlyteCo has an aviation theme and it looks like the owners put some money into the space.

It's not on the Tennyson drag (where Call to Arms and De Steeg (kinda) already are and a new joint named Empourium will be), but it's close. Grateful Gnome is also just a block off Tennyson...I like having options but I wonder if the neighborhood is getting crowded?

I wish I were closer to the Tennyson options. Not only are there a lot of options, they're mostly REALLY good. Since I'm stuck driving across town, I can really only choose one at a time, though. Usually it's H&P. I swear Hogshead needs some decent food options. Lack of nearby food has kept me away from there numerous times.
