sup sup.... sooo I'm headed to portland maine from dc in a month to visit my bro in law... always stop at the magic intersection of foundation/allagash/MBC/bbb. i also make a run out west to vermont for some fresh heady and lawson's. i'm interested in visiting some new breweries and or hidden gems that haven't hit mainstream yet or i haven't heard of yet to score some kick ass rookie beers. i'll be driving up and down i-95. and yes i'm going to treehouse as well. any suggestions? prefer ipa's and stouts. thanks in advanced. cheers
OEC Brewing (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/34667/) in Oxford, CT is a must, if you're into sours.
Not too far off route either. love a good sour. both of these are a short drive away from each other. thanks
I would think Trillium is a must stop, especially with the new brewery in Canton right off of 95. Depending on how much time you have and how much of a detour you don't mind taking, Kane & Carton in NJ would be good stops along the way also as you'll find some great IPA's and Stouts there.
Check their website. They usually have a good amount of beer on tap for growler fills and bottles to-go.
In MA - Tree House, Trillium, Jack's Abby, Night Shift, Wormtown, Castle Island (new brewery making some good stuff) In RI - Proclamation In CT - Beer'd, OEC, Kent Falls, NEBCo, Steady Habit
Not sure how far out of the way it might be, but you could stop by Tired Hands in Philly going up 95.
I was also told that Black Hog Brewing (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/34658/) in Oxford, CT is solid too, if you're into APA/IPA/DIPAs.
Black Hog is solid and very underrated. However, a bit of a detour off 95. The O.E.C. taproom is only open on Saturdays.
That's true, but you can buy bottles to-go any day of the week. As long as somebody's there. Just call ahead! Or message them on FB, they're very responsive.
Brocklebank in VT is new. Has a tasty IPA named Timbler Rattler. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/38743/ River Roost is brand new in WRJ, VT http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/44112/ Don't miss Austin St. in same place as Bissell. Hermit Thrush brews in Brattleboro. (Sours, they do have a Sour IPA named Green St. that is great) Schilling in Littleton, NH. (European styles, lagers, sours. They do have a Belgian style IPA) If heading from Portland to VT you will be real close to Stoneface. If you hit Trillium or the Boston area, the Mystic taproom is excellent. They had a great DIPA on last week called Bonus Life. (its also just a few miles from Night Shift). Foley Bros. makes excellent IPA/DIPA, great tap room. Bottles available at many VT stores. If your bringing some of your local goodies, hit me up for an IP exchange.
Oxbox has a taproom in in Portland, ME that's worth a visit: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/39514/
