Hey, I am from Germany and my girlfriend and me want to do a New England road trip and also go to Toronto via Niagra Falls by car and then back to New York. I found out that there are some restrictions regarding import of beer. Does somebody know how much we can import per person to Canada and back to the US? Thanks
Canada has some weird and antiquated liquor laws, I always stick to this: Beer or ale Up to 8.5 litres Up to 287 fluid ounces Approximately 24 cans or bottles (355 ml each) of beer or ale. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/atl-lat-eng.html No mention of ABV % for beer. so bring up to 287 fluid oz of barrel aged stout goodness or IPAs :-) Coming back to the US the only limit I've ever seen is the 50Lb limit on my suitcases :-) I believe there are no limits for personal consumption but huge quantities could upset the Customs officers
Like the_bavarian said, it's a case of beer per person. at least into Canada. I think it's similar coming back. Are you planning on leaving and returning via Niagra? Maybe there's a local BA in the area that will let you drop off for a while - Being for personal consumption may be different - but I wouldn't wager on that. You may be able to get away with a bit more, depending on the border agent involved, but you're not going to get cases and cases across.
