I will be heading to New England traveling all over for work. Starting in Boston and heading up to Maine and then West over to Vermont and New Hampshire and then back to Boston. I will be honestly passing through so much of the territory that any suggestions of great beer bars, great sports bars, or great breweries anywhere in these states would be doable. Please suggest.

Off the top of my head and what I'd look for if I had a bunch of time kicking around NE:

Beers to look for that are local: Jack's Abby, Slumbrew, Notch, Maine Beer Company, Allagash (great on draft without the hefty bottle price), Berkshire Beer, Brash, Clown Shoes, Element, Enlightenment Ales, Mystic, Night Shift, Pretty Things, Wormtown, Baxter, Rising Tide, White Birch, and VT Brews listed below.

Boston/Cambridge: Kendel Square area (Lord Hobo, Cambridge Brewing Company, Meadhall), Allston/Brighton/Brookline (Deep Ellum/Lone Star Taco, Publick House, Sunset Grill), Fenway/Back Bay/Downtown area (Bukowski's, Lower Depths, Jacob Wirth's)

    NH: Portsmouth Brewery Pub

Maine: Portland area (Novare Res, Great Lost Bear, Maine Beer Company brewery tour, Allagash Brewery Tour), Bar Harbor/MDI area (Atlantic Brewing Company and BBQ place attached to it, Liquor Locker), Lovell (Ebenezer's)

VT: Hill Farmstead, Lawson's Finest Liquids, Alchemist, Prohibition Pig

Start with the 'places' key here on BA. IMO, the must stops are Allagash in ME, Portsmouth in NH and Hill Farmstead, Lawson's and Alchemist in VT.

For pubs, I recommend Blackback in Waterbury, VT, Moat Mtn. in N. Conway, NH. I'l leave the MA bars to the locals but there are many great ones.

Vermont is pretty big from North to South and two different beer worlds of have's and have nots. Are you going N or S?

Can you post some cities or routes/interstates you'll be taking? There's a bunch of places, but some could be 2-4hrs out of your driving route depending on which parts of which states you're going through.

I dont know if youre driving, but if you are you have to pass through CT i assume and if you do you need to swing by NEBCO in woodbrige CT right on the New Haven line....CHEERS

I will be driving to Boston from Philly and then north to Augusta, ME. Then over to Lebanon, NH, and up to Burlington, VT. Then directly down to Hartford and back to Philly
