I don't mean to be a negative Nancy but I'm really tired of Kickstarter projects.

I agree. I think, in most cases, its a cheap lazy way to get money for a project. Not that awesome things don't come out of kickstarter though.

This is true. The only time I've ever used it was to help fund a band to mix/master and print their album. It cost me $15 for a signed copy of their album and an early download before their release. Since the album was self distributed it ended up costing $15 on their site after the Kickstarter project. So I basically just invested in their product knowing I will get a full return. Although I wish most of these types the best of luck, I don't have the money to fund anyone knowing I won't get my full amount in return.

I see it like any other product, if it is worth it you give them money, if not move on. it is cheap and easy financing in a time when banks arent giving out much, which I think is great.

Yes, great home brew shop that they run in Ludlow called DIY Brewing. Super helpful guy Mike owns it. Runs a local home brew club too. Used to work in the biotech world. I think it's a solid idea that people should support. Big local homebrewing scene popping up in MA these days with hop farms and Valley Malt and this would be icing the cake.

He has been expanding production and is by far the best out there imo. I do wonder if these guys can get some more interesting products out there, if they do I would buy and try them out - but for now, East Coast Yeast will be getting my money/support. (Also ECY is local to me so take what I say with my full bias in mind)

I don't disagree as I have used ECY in the past (it was a hassle to get it to Canada) and love the product, but having a second yeast producer whose primary thrust seems to be wild yeast is a good thing for home brewers in general. Furthermore, the nice thing about wild yeasts is that the product from ECY and these guys will be different...

Is it truly original? No. Will some of their strains be original? Yes.

Thanks for the input on these guys. That's what I was wondering about.

I thought the only places to get yeast were the big players, White, Wyeast and a few others. We have brewers in MA that are using as much local product as they can. I didn't think a local company could sell their own yeast.
Although...I just found out about a place that sells Conan yeast.

And that place is? Is it local?
