Greetings, BAers. The Mrs and I are planning on being out in Vegas again in December and when doing a search, I see breweries listed that weren't listed/around when we were out last December. Are any of the following decent (don't have to knock my socks off) and/or open yet?

    1. Mojave
    2. Beer District Brewing
    3. Camo Brewing Co
    4. Nevada Brew Works

We didn't get a chance to try: Trustworthy, PT's Brewing Co, Scenic Brewing, or Astronomy Aleworks (and still have to hit Bad Beat, or CraftHaus). I think that's all I saw listed when I did a Google search. We'll probably hit Big Dog's for the AYCE shrimp on a Wednesday and definitely hit Ellis for the barbecue....and the Holiday Nog. I think we've been to the rest (Chicago, Lovelady, Barley's, Tenaya, Banger, Boulder Dam, Able Baker, Hop Nuts, and Triple 7--did I miss any?). Anyway, just wondering if those first four in particular are open yet, then we'll decide which to hit, etc. Oh, and I was trying to remember: What was the brewery that was inside one of the bigger casinos on the Strip back in the early 2000s and closed long ago? Was trying to remember the name as that was the first one I ever went to the first time I visited Vegas. THANKS

    Hey man,
Mojave is open as well as Beer District. I haven't heard of Camo Brewing so not sure what that is all about. Nevada Brew Works isn't open but will be by Dec. I believe the brewery you are asking about in the strip was Holy Cow, which became Big Dogs unless you meant Sin City Brewing which until recently was strip located but has closed down. If you want to hit a draft room Beer Zombies isnt far from the strip we are releasing a beer a month can wise and have the best draft list in vegas in my opinion of course!

What happened to Sin City? I'm guessing their 3-4 taprooms are still on the Strip...right? While nothing earth shattering, I still like their stuff.

No. Not Holy Cow (would've liked to hit that priginal one). This wouldve been around 2004 or so? The casino might've changed names, too, as I'm drawing a major blank. Maybe Domingo remembers? I seem to recall him mentioning it eons ago. Had a shirt but gave away 2 lawn bags of shirts, jeans, etc last fall. It's not Sin City, either. Hit there at Miracle Mile (?) several years ago. I did mention to my better half Beer Zombies. We'll be at Wyndham Grand Desert and I see y'all aren't far. Thanks for the info!

If you’re going back that far, was it the brewery that used to be in Monte Carlo?

Pretty sure you are talking about The Pub at Monte Carlo.

No they all closed down, the beer was being brewed at LoveLady so they didnt have a physical brewery in town

Was that place even a brewery? I walked by it a few times back in the days (don’t think I ever went in). From what I can recall, they had fake grain silos and stuff. Doesn’t seem like it would be economical to brew beer inside a casino.

Mojave is pretty solid. Was there last weekend actually. They are only Las Vegas brewery to my knowledge who does cider as well (believe only one with the license to). Good range of styles. Nothing otherworldly but well made beers.

If that's what they originally called the brewery there. That was the first one I ever hit my first time in Begas with Ellis being the second. Looking at BA, looks like the brewery at Monte Carlo quit brewing in '07.

Love Ellis Island's Egg Nog! They opened their "Front Yard" which is really nice last December.

Among the new breweries, I really like Beer District Brewing in the Arts District. They opened in February, just before the Rona closures, and I was very glad to have stopped in twice before flying back home for the lock down. They brew across several styles and their pours were either good, very good or excellent. They also had a great guest draft list, though that may be spotty at this point with a lot of breweries packaging and distribution of draft has been cut back due to the Rona.

The other two in the Arts District that you haven't listed which I would consider are Mad Fermentist (1115 S Casino Drive, which unfortunately was closed by the time I got there, and the second CraftHaus location if you are not able to hit the Henderson Car District.

I would also hit the Car District in Henderson for Astronomy AleWorks, which brews good IPAs (Pluto is a Planet), Stouts (Moons of Uranus Porter Vanilla, Coconut and Mothership Coffee, Yuri Gararn Russian Imperial Stout) and a good Kolsch (Speed of Light and a Lemon/Lime Speed of Sprite). CraftHaus brews many styles and most of their pours are very good as well.

Those are the new breweries I would focus on. Hope I can make it out for my annual December trip as well, don't want to miss the Egg Nog!

They closed all four locations. Joseph James also closed this Spring, they sold cans but did not have a brewpub.

They did brew there for years, and it was very decent for a casino. Then it became a “pub” with only guest taps

Damn. Joseph James and Sin City both gone. That's pretty crazy. Especially Sin City. I remember drinking Sin City Amber at the LV Gameworks back in the 90's. Not that I loved either, but I thought they were both pretty good...and convenient if you're confined to the Strip area.

I was just there in December and I would have never guessed...although I guess 2020 isn't like normal years, either.

Very nice. Where are you building the brewery, and will it be open to the public with a taproom or brewpub?

Hope everything goes to plan with all the craziness. Looking forward to hitting the Summerlin location as well.

My quoted post was strictly addressing breweries @Schmittymack hasn't hit yet. I always try to hit your stores and Khoureys each trip.

It will be near the Raiders Stadium, open to public with full tap room and kitchen. Cheers!

Thanks Beer Zombies for the updates and elevating the Vegas craft beer game. Are you Brewing these latest beers at your own facility (Axe Brews Vengeance) ? Or still using Mason Aleworks or somewhere else to brew?

Appreciate you on many levels bringing great beers to Nevada from far away places and now doing your own.

Next Beer Zombies Brewing beer will be getting brewed this thursday its a Oat Cream Hazy Triple IPA. I drive down to Socal weds to brew a collab with Beer Thug Life in LA then head south to San Marcos to brew the BZ beer. We are still brewing out of Mason Ale Works this next beer is a 90bbl batch, not really any place in Vegas thats set up to allow someone else to come in and brew that size of a batch.

I was told that Mojave Brewery is the only brewery in Nevada that serves cask beer? I find this hard to believe. I'm sure with all the new breweries in Nevada that there are several breweries that serves cask beer.
