https://www.ecommercebytes.com/2019/05/31/ebay-warns-sellers-of-350-fedex-hazmat-penalty/ Y’all see this? Feel like UPS, and USPS will follow suit soon...
I wonder what actual % of packages they ship actually require any type of cleanup...probably .000000001 %. This is a damn shame and a money grab.
I posted this and had some people telling me it was strictly an eBay thing. I’m hoping that’s true but still it makes me a bit more nervous
It's part of their policy now (but it says it was revised April 29, 2019) so maybe just going into enforcement? https://www.fedex.com/content/dam/fedex/us-united-states/services/Service_Guide_2019.pdf K. Hazardous material packages found in the FedEx Ground system not properly prepared in accordance with DOT regulations and FedEx Ground requirements will be held for customer pickup. If the shipper refuses to pick up or make other arrangements for delivery acceptable to FedEx Ground, the shipper will reimburse FedEx Ground for all costs and fees of any type connected with the legal disposal of the shipment. The shipper agrees to indemnify FedEx Ground for any and all costs, fees and expenses FedEx Ground incurs as a result of the shipper’s failure to comply with FedEx Hazardous Materials shipping requirements. The minimum reimbursement per package is US$350.
Thanks for the heads up. I haven't used Fedex in the last six months since they flagged one of my packages too many times. I also received a nasty letter from them too. My friend who worked for years at USPS told me that the postal carriers "do not care" what's in the box as long as it doesn't leak.
Ya USPS is the best. And if you're sending some real valuable box they do have fancier shipping options and good insurance
