New Female Brewers?

These folks should be able to offer some information.

Not many I can think of, certainly not enough! CraftRoots in Milford Massachusetts is female owned & operated. Maureen Fabry is the brewer and makes some nice ales. There was a very fine female brewer some years back at John Harvard's in Framingham, who's name I can't recall, but after she left the quality was notably down.

 

I know of at least 2 female Brewers in Asheville, Highland Brewing head brewer and one over at Wicked Weed in their Sour side.

 

"Newer female brewers"? Newer than what? Newer than the old ones?

 

Maria something - I think it was a Hispanic name. She was really good, and they went through a few brewers after her. Yes, quality was spotty for a while, but the guy they have now is absolutely killing it. I forget his name offhand, but he was with the Beer Works next door after being around for a while before that.

 

Jester King recently promoted Averie Swanson too head brewer. She's been doing a great job, jk has some of the best beer in the country and she will keep it that way

 

There are lots and lots of lady brewers in the UK.Traditionally of course brewing was fundamentally a female occupation and they were called brewsters. There is an excellent brewery near here called Brewster's.

Local Brewing in San Francisco has two female owners and one of them is the head brewer.

At least 2 breweries here in Utah have female brewmasters. Roosters Jacquie king and Uinta's Tanael Escartin. Vernal brewing co is owned by a women. This was actually just printed in a beer edition of a local magazine, otherwise, I probably would not have had any idea and there may be more?

 

Veronica Vega at Deschutes, Natalie Baldwin at Breakside, Tonya Cornett and Whitney Burnside at 10 Barrel, Lisa Allen at Heater Allen, all badass brewers.

 

A local, 515 brewing, has a female head brewer. It's one of the best local breweries for hoppy beer. They've been around for 5 years though, so maybe not the newest.

 

Relatively new brewery in Brookings, OR called Chetco Brewing is owned by a lady and I believe she helps brew, I think the head brewer is a man though. Their beer is poppin though and they do regular guest brews with the pink boot society.

 

Maria Poulinas. (I googled!) Gotta get back to John Harvard's. Twas the brewer that brewed Contender. I like his beer a lot and was sad he left. Seems obvious, but it's amazing what a good brewer can do for a brewery!

 

Bombshell in Holly Springs, NC is female owned but has a man as the head brewer.

 

Snow Hop Brewery in Helena Montana opening soon will have a female head brewer.

Cabinet Mountain brewing in Libby Montana is owned by 2 women.

 

If memory serves, I think Spinnaker Bay (Seattle) and Portneuf (Pocatello) have female head brewers.
