Last year's Kid Kölsch didn't seem as good as when it was first made. When it was first released, I bought at least a case. I had a hard time going through the two six packs I bought last year. Here's hoping that this year's version is closer to the first release, rather than last year's release.

It really would be great to see them make Hometown Blonde or Edel Pils again as a seasonal. Looking forward to the doppelbock.

I agree with everything you said here! I could’ve made kid kolsch my every day drinker for the rest of my life if it was the first batch. Would also love to see more hometown blonde, edel pils, and Zwickel. Especially Zwickel

Revisiting the Triple 5, and liking it a little more. The carbonation still feels a bit off: head not as fluffy as I would want, yet sharper on the tongue than expected, and not very creamy. And I agree with those who say it shades a little towards a strong hefe (bubblegum) or even a saison (a little funky bite). But the Belgian sugars are pretty spot on, and a nice spiciness. Not quite to style, but very interesting. I'll probably get another 4 pack

Hoping for a mass release of R&D beers soon :sunglasses:

My first time having Kid Kolsch was last year. And damn was it good. I will be buying at least a case of that.

Glad I saved some Strawberry Rhubarb for summer. Cracked one a little before the work day is technically over. So good. The strawberry has no off notes and there is a tiny hint of creamy vanilla to go with the subtle rhubarb/sour bite.

The strawberry pops a little more when it is fresh, but I think these fruit beers age very well actually. For a year or so, anyway, they never last any longer than that in the house

Always a treat but I concur, I can't believe how slow their decline is.

Well, Wisconsin, so... probably a bit on the late side of things. And that's not a dig, I'm in the very same boat. Cheers!

Yeah plus it's 4% I think, which counts as NA beer in Wisconsin

Any reports on how this year’s Kid Kolsch compares to the last two would be appreciated. I didn’t get any last year, so curious to hear how this year stacks up with some of the reports in this thread about last year’s batch.

And, Hometown Blonde, Edel Pils, and Zwickel, like the Hodag, are really just myths. Sure, some claim to have seen them in ancient times, but did they ever truly exist?

Hometown Blonde was available last year, but only in shops within Green County Wisconsin.

Any Kid Kolsch on tap sightings? The closer to Hudson, the better:sunglasses:.

Tried a Kid Kölsch. I wasn't around for the last two years so I can't comment on how this compares to last year (people seem to think last year's batch wasn't up to snuff?).

I think it's quite good. The first thing you get on the aroma is bread. Kind of a yeasty smell similar to when you make your own bread and it's proving (proofing?). Then some fruity smells which are hard to pin down to a particular fruit. Grapes, maybe. Taste is more bread and grapes, a little dry white wine and a touch of lemon. Floral hops. Very lively carbonation, almost translates into a hint of a funky sour bite, although no sourness is really present. Nice dry finish.

Kölsch is hard because there are not easily obtainable German imports to use as a benchmark. Not saying that the Germans have to be the standard, but it's always nice to go to (say) a Celebrator and think "ah yes, that is what a dopplebock tastes like." So I don't have a standard to compare the NG KK to.

Are there any German Kölsches readily available in the US? I never see any. In Wisconsin there have been some local ones that I found... wanting. Commuter Kölsch from One Barrel is not great. It's too lemony and a little sweet.

Anyway I think Kid Kölsch is damn good.

Looks like a new Thumbprint series Lots o’ Peach is being distributed. I don’t know what it says on the side bottle but it sounds good!
