Good article indeed, thanks for sharing Ri0! I'm hoping that their expansion plans will allow them to make their Berliner Weiss available permanently. I've been buying this stuff up like crazy since they released a few weeks ago, and WOW is it good. Great warm weather beer!

Thanks for sharing. The closing line in the article is especially great:

Very interesting. I like that they really incorporate green solutions in the workings of the brewery itself. So many places talk the talk, but rarely do anything beyond superficial changes.

    My favorite part:

"While Spotted Cow often gets the spotlight, New Glarus fruit beers have a cult-like following. The popularity of beers like Wisconsin Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart has fueled growth at the company's older Riverside brewery. The Careys are building a new cellar there that will allow Dan to increase both the amount and number of fruit-based beers. The Careys' daughter, Katherine, who works for Potter Lawson architects in Madison, is involved in the cellar design. Over the past several months, the brewery has purchased more than a half-dozen used large wooden oak tanks from wineries California, Washington and France, and will soon be put to use in expanded sour and fruit beer production. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year."

Expanded New Glarus sour program... I just went from six to midnight.

I agree. I only have one left out of a 4 pack. I kick myself for not buying another one.

I've always wanted to go. I love nearly everything they produce and am glad they have some fairly big plans.

Sounds like an expanded sour line-up is in the future. Great news. Hopefully things aren't as limited as before.

More sours from NG please! If they started producing more sours on a regular basis on the level of Russian River, I'll never want to leave Wisconsin. Ever.

Enigma! Enigma! Enigma! I only have like a 6 pk left. Such a great brewery. Glad to read about the expansion.

I expect FIBs to rise to the challenge of continuing to keep WI separated from its good beer.

Which means they are looking to expand into Minnesota and Illinois. Why else would they make such a huge investment?

As a former Ohioan, I can confirm this. I don't ever think my drinking habits will be completely understood, but I definitely feel a bit more accepted here than Ohio.

(That's not to bash Ohio. Ohoi and the whole Great Lakes region knows their way around alcohol, but Wisconsin just has a whole different attitude towards it.)
