Do they sell beer there that we don't see in any Wisconsin beer stores? Prices cheaper there?

They sell bottles of their R&D series stuff, last time I was there it was Golden Ale. Prices seem about the same as most retail outlets.

It sounds like the Golden Ale is about the only one they still sell/have any left (also sold at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee).

Yeah, the brewery had a butt-load of the Golden Ale when I was up there in January.

Golden Ale is the only thing that you can't find elsewhere. Sometimes you can find some of the past Thumbprint/Unplugged, but just one or two of the most recent releases. Nothing crazy or that old. Prices on their normal beers are actually a bit higher than the local liquor or grocery stores. They want to support the places that sell their beers.

Looks like they will have a new brewery only beer sometime soon, but no word on exactly when.

You can get it at Discount Liquor as well but that is about it.

The prices are definitely a bit higher (especially for Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart, iirc), but it's nice to have a one-stop shop where you can put together a mixed case (or two...) with absolutely every beer they make. While a sixpack costs a buck more than in most stores, you can fill a sixer with six different beers (or a four-pack of Unplugged/Thumbprint) for the same price as six of the same, so if you're looking for variety it's not a bad value.

The brewery is also beautiful in and of itself, so I think it's worth a bit of a detour to make a stop.

I'll be swinging by the brewery the afternoon of 4/29 as I'll be in the area from California. Anyone want to join me?

    Th
The Brewery doesn't want to deal with Growlers so if you need one you have to go to
Sportsman Grill in NG. They'll be happy to fill a/your growler. Had a NG Barley Wine
    there Thursday.

Don't get me wrong, there are cheaper prices to be found, but a trip the the Brewery is a MUST!

They don't have growlers or a bar because they want you to spend your money in town at the local bars and restaurants. Only able to get 3 tasters in the gift shop and can buy any of their beers down stairs off the parking lot.
Have a great time, it is a beautiful brewery!

Can't you order pints as well? You get to keep the glass (the new funny tall glass).

Yeah, sorry guess you can just never have done it myself. But, was just trying to get across the whole "we don't really have a bar, because we want you to go into New Glarus" type of thing.
