Anyone have info on whether new glarus brewery is kid friendly atmosphere? Ie outside space to run, food service with kid seating... Family is taking a trip to Wisconsin and would love to visit. Also, is it easy to find NG fruit beers for purchase around town?
Yes & yes. The fruit beers are on every corner all throughout Wisconsin (at least those in season, & even those out-of-season can be found depending on the time). The brewery is beautiful & though I haven't brought my kids there, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. There's a massive patio with a great view out back, some weird faux ruins down below that, & a lot of space to run around. When I've been there, they've had a stand serving pizzas or brats, but I don't know how often that's there. But there are a couple of good restaurants in New Glarus proper anyways. I'd keep them out of the shop (lots & lots of glass) depending on their age, but otherwise, very kid-friendly.
I've seen lots of kids there but I wouldn't call it all that kid friendly. They don't serve food but there are food trucks occasionally and there are a bunch of picnic tables outside and people commonly eat snacks at them. The outdoor area is large but it is mostly gravel and rock features (Google image search for "New Glarus Brewing outdoors" for a better idea) so if your kids aren't too little they'd probably have fun exploring. The fruit beers are available at a lot of grocery stores, most liquor stores, and even some gas stations throughout Wisconsin.
They don't always server food, but they do have some offerings on the weekends at times. My kids have always had fun there and they are 6 and 8. There are 2 gas stations in town, and one grocery store, all with plenty of New Glarus beers for purchase. If you're looking for places in town to eat/drink New Glarus brews then the 4 places I would stop would be Puemples, Tofflers, The Glarner Stube and Sugar River Pizza.
