I think this will last a bit longer. 500 barrels was it? That's just under 7,000 cases of beer, or just over 41,000 4-packs. I know I've purchased 5.

*Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the batch size.

Abrasive is and always will be one of my favorite beers. So damn good and holds up nicely, but I'm very proud of Scream. As someone else mentioned, I find myself drinking a couple bottles nearly every night!

if i'm reading the bottling code correctly, which I believe I am, this was bottled in mid march. I have a hard time believing that considering how fresh it tastes

My guess is the 1484 looks more like 1464 on your bottle. I'm 99.9% sure scream was not bottled in March.

Went out to get more today, and it's gone from my two favorite bottle shops. So, get some while you can.

I love NG and think Scream is very, very good. But I'm surprised to see this degree of hype around it. Imo, it's still a notch below TG, Heady, Abrasive, Pliny, HF, Alpine, etc. It is certainly more balanced than most of those though, so maybe it's just my bias toward super dry, low malt DIPA's talking.

Or maybe it is because it it's easy to obtain and probably the best IIPA made in WI. Those others you mention are not available by the case in any grocery store.

I agree with that (although Illumination is close in my book). But there are a half dozen favorable comparisons to those others in this thread and I just don't see that, unless people are taking availability into account. Just my 2 cents.

I know, I'd take Abrasive, Permanent Funeral, and others over Scream. Question is, if I had easy access to the top IIPA's would my opinion change? I have bought much more Bunny Green Toe because it is priced well at $9/six and just tastes fantastic, plus I prefer the lighter ABV in the heat.

I have enjoyed Scream so far, but the last one of my first 4 pack that I consumed this evening was particularly tasty. This is a beer I will be enjoying quite a bit more of

I would possibly take PF over Scream, but my fiance wouldn't. There are so many flavors available to brewers when putting together IIPA's that I can't even compare the two fairly. Abrasive is def more Scream-like, and I would happily drink Scream first. Some of that is my brand loyalty to NG over Surly. I truly appreciate the step up Wisco brewers have taken brewing hoppy beers this year. I look forward to what they'll come up with in the future.

Picked up my first full sixer of Bunny Green Toe this weekend and you're right, it's an amazing beer. Easily the best bottled IPA Wisconsin has produced so far- until K4 finally gets around to bottling Fantasy Factory.

Had Scream next to Heady Topper, Pliny, Dreadnaught, and pseudoSue this weekend. I know pseudo isn't a IIPA, but I didn't have access to Sosus. Scream is def more in the vein of Dreadnaught and Pliny.

While I think all of those beers are more refined and probably rank higher than Scream in my book, I do think that this beer holds it's own and has a place right between Dreadnaught & Pliny in any IIPA tasting.

I'll also add that on-tap it's aroma is 10x better and it gains some citrus on the tongue.

"Carey expects Scream to be available through the rest of 2014. "We've made 500 barrels so far and we might make more," he says. It's the latest beer to be released in the brewery's Thumbprint series, which sell for around $10 per four-pack."

Do you guys think it will really last that long??

They're going to brew multiple batches to keep fresh bottles available. I do think each batch will sell out within weeks, but I also think that they'll time it so fresh batches roll out soon after the shelves empty. This is going to be a cash cow for them.

I am more of a lurker but this beer has made me come out of my shell to post. I lived in Vermont from 2006-2009 when the Alchemist had a brew pub with multiple types of beer and food. Still miss that place. . . Heady Topper was sure good then but in my opinion they had a multitude of good beers, some even better. Since leaving in 2009, the flooding in VT happened, the brew pub shut down, and they started canning Heady Topper. It is an awesome beer and worth seeking out. I had a friend who visited me in Wisconsin last year and he was kind enough to bring some Heady. It was as good as I remembered. I guess my rambling point is that Heady Topper is generally considered one of the best bears (if not IIPAs) in existence. How it got there I'm not sure as I don't remember this much hype back then, but nonetheless it is an awesome beer.

Bringing it back to Scream, I would put it right up there with the best IIPAs that I've head, not that I've had all of the best or am the world's authority on the matter. As someone who loves IIPAs I'm thrilled we have this here and now. I encourage anyone who has the chance to try it and hope this makes it into the regular New Glarus rotation.
