    Hello Wisconsin BAs!

My uncle lives in Stevens Points, WI and I was going to have him pick up some New Glarus stuff when I meet up with him in Chicago June 13th.

If anyone that lives around those parts can you give me some insight where I can direct him to go for the most convenient spot where they carry a large variety of their stuff. Also what New Glarus beers are currently on the shelves?

Thank you for all your help in Advance!

The Bottle Shop in Point is a great store, but you can honestly find New Glarus stuff at pretty much any grocery store or gas station that sells liquor. It's everywhere.

Their website will list the current beers that are around and there's even a beer finder if you want to browse for certain ones.

Thank you. Please let me know if there's any other non New Glarus beers that are worth trying out.

I just recently had Bedlam by Ale Asylum and loved it.

There are a million suggestions I could give you, but I'll throw out a few of my local favs right now:

    Central Waters: Illumination
    Central Waters: BA Cherry Stout
    Lakefront: My Turn Johnson
    Black Husky: Howler
    Tyranena: Devil Over A Barrel

Some of those might be difficult to find, but if you come across them, absolutely buy it.

Bedlam, Johnson, Illumination... awesome awesome awesome. I'll tell you a secret as well if you promise to have your dad drop me off a bottle in Milwaukee... as of about 3 weeks ago Central Waters was selling 16 at the brewery. $15 a bottle, limit 8... phenomenal beer. Amherst is about 15 min outside of Point.

since we're throwing out non-NG beers.... Central Waters and O'so are both minutes from Stevens Point.

Convenient Distraction from O'so was a surprisingly amazing brew. They're definitely coming around since they can't make a good IPA to save their lives. They definitely have some talent for brewing stouts and sours though.

Thank you for all the great info. My Uncle is very clueless of the beer scene and just beer in general (doesn't drink) I didn't want to overwhelm him with this. Guy named Matt from the Bottle Shop was very helpful and offered to help my Uncle if he goes to the store.

Lupulin maximus is pretty awesome in my opinion so is dank though technically its a red. The lupulin maximus I had on cask at the brewery was even better.

I've had Lupulin twice and both times it was terrible (in my opinion). It was unbelievably sweet and not hoppy, which made for a disgusting combination. I figured I had a bad bottle the first time, but it was exactly as bad the second time. I also tried Hop Whoopin on tap at the brewery, and it was also just straight up not good.

I'm not sure when they brew their IPAs fresh, but I'd be willing to give it another go. I really liked Winds of Change and loved Convenient Distraction, so I know they have some serious brewing talent. Night Train was also great. Looking forward to more sours from them.

its best when fresh it doesn't seem to hold up even after only a couple months. So while I agree the older ones are pretty bad and its a pain to find them fresh, when you do its very good I think. Dank holds up a bit better than lupulin but im think that has to do with the way they brew lupulin.

That sounds like old Lupulin. It is terrific fresh. I do agree with you about Hop Whoopin' though...that beer is terrible.

Try El Dorado from O'so if you get a chance. It is a keg only beer this year, the new brewmaster I believe came up with this recipe.
