Wondering if anyone has either traded this or traded for this beer recently and what you obtained/gave up for it. I have a couple bottles I'm considering trading and really haven't seen any proposed trades on the trading forum involving this fine brew.

I traded a 2010 DL for two of them, in person. Also, a Bramble for one bottle in combination with something else I'm blanking on at the moment.

    I'd do it again, too.

Wow you got that guy good. I don't know if I would trade one for a 2006 or whatever the first year of DL was. Sours over stouts all day but that is just like my opinion man. And that the Sour Ale is the closest thing to a Belgian counterpart I can think of.

That's probably why you had to sucker someone. And as NateNelson likes the post he is thinking he would have dooped someone into the same trade but not made it himself.

Probably for a similar fairly limited or brewery only release with little hype behind it. I've send bottles out to good trading partners as part of regular back-and-forths.

Personally, I'd either send it to someone you like or drink it. It's an excellent beer & I doubt it's going to trade as well as it tastes.

You're right, I suckered him with this completely misleading and underhanded ISO: http://beeradvocate.com/community/t...brown-x-4-ft-gi-bramble-x-1-2010-dl-x1.34281/ . I'm sure the BA with whom I traded, as he is a mature, intelligent individual with a will of his own would not have made the trade if he felt he was being "duped", and would probably disagree with your characterization. But, hey, don't let that stop you from furthering your conspiracy theories.

As to why Mr. Nelson liked my post, I'm sure you're right as he is notorious on this site for being a malicious trader

Mine is on the open market for any good barleywine i haven't had really, preferably -Bal.

I really only trade for barleywines, anything else isn't worth paying shipping for to me, also because this beer is honestly one of the best wilds i've had that is made in murica, i wish Dan did more of these, he really does it well.

    Summary: Depends on the individual.

In other news, they discovered today that the great White Shark is likely evolved from the Broad Toothed Mako Shark, and not the prehistoric megalodon like previously speculated.

Oh the irony of your posts. You take your completely subjective trade value views (which, in MY subjective opinion are way off the mark for what this beer is worth trade wise) and impose them on someone else to make them look like they are the one who is taking advantage (when in reality if you traded one for a 2006 DL you would be the one taking advantage). Additionally, when someone else disagrees with you, you call them out as the type of person who will "doop" others to get beer (i.e. NateNelson).

You do realize the ridiculousness of this, right? You're imposing your subjective opinion on the value of beer on the community as a whole, and are using said subjective value to then "prove" that people are taking advantage of others.

Well I am in possession of the beer in question do doesn't that mean I subjectively set the value regardless of how much you like it or not?

I was actually just thinking that I should have titled to post something along the lines of "experiences with trades involving NG R&D Sour Ale" as value really is subjective.

    ...and the irony continues.

Of course you're right, but that doesn't mean your subjective valuation amounts to carte blanche to essentially call other people swindlers because of their trade terms "regardless of how much you like it or not".

It sounds more to me like you feel that the trade I made debased the "trade value" of your beer and now you're trying to counter that with accusations and insults. Instead of just saying you feel the sour should trade for more you twice said I was a thief and a liar, without using those words, and implied that natenelson was the same. This doesn't strike you as wrong?

This aggression will not stand, etc. etc.

Sorry to hijack your post, OP.

Not particularly, I won't be trading my beer because I think it is that good. Hence why I said I wouldn't trade it for whatever. But like I said that is just like my opinion man, which it seems like I am not entitled to judging by some posts above. You don't like my evaluation, well who gives a shit? I don't like yours and we are doing what we are here for and that is to have conversations on beer with varying opinions.
