I had my first bottle a few days ago and it was a super malty. The one I'm having now has a dominating tartness to it. Is there any word on whether or not there are infected bottles of it. It sure tastes like it.

Have neither heard of any infected bottles nor tasted any.

Let me expand on that. Of the hundreds of bottles of New Glarus I've consumed over the years, I've never had a single Q.C. issue with them, so I'd be beyond shocked if there was an issue now. Not sure what you're tasting, perhaps just an off-bottle but hell, not sure I've had those from New Glarus before either. They're amazingly consistent.

I disagree, there is a HUGH, unreal HUGH Q.C. issue! The OP should send me all he has, so that I may start a 6 sigma project to figure out what the root cause is.

I've drank 3 bottles of it so far, no issues...

I have drank two bottles so far and find the maltiness to be very tame. I am waiting to drink some more to see if the hops fade some to reveal the malt.

The NG DIPA? yeah, i have drank 8 bottles so far, no QC issues so far, but there is a strange "barleywine" label on the bottles.....someone should tell Dan about this mistake.

SOooooooo TRUE, drinks more like a DIPA than BW.

No issues either with the 12 bottles of DIPA - *cough* *cough* - I mean barleywine I've had.

IIPA? I don't think I'm drinking the same beer.

not a malty barleywine but still a great beer. The hop bill is amazing.

I'm holding a bottle of the IIpa right now and pouring it. And drinking it. I see no "barleywine label" anywhere. And I taste no overly-barley flavors. What are ya'll talkin bout?

People are referring to the new Thumbprint beer "Barleywine" as being more of a IIPA than a barleywine--they aren't talking about the "IIPA" released a couple months ago.

To the OP--FWIW, I have NEVER had an off bottle of New Glarus, including the multiple bottles of "Barleywine" I have had lately... I hold Dan and Randy at the pinnacle of quality control.
