Hi. A friend of mine is looking for a case of NG wild sour ale. I was wondering what it would take for a case. Local shelf beer or rare stuff? I know NG doesnt distribute out of state. Was this hard to get?I saw a picture of someone with 4-5 cases in there car. Thanks for the help.

I don't have any, I drank my only bottle last week, but my understanding is that it was readily available all over WI as a seasonal release. I think you just have to find someone that has it and offer something equally delicious around the same $4$.

You'll most likely have to trade more than just shelf beer, especially for a case. It sold out quite quickly around the WI/MN border and who knows when it will be made again. Many places didn't have limits, so people just bought multiple cases considering the price point. Less than $10 for a 4 pack of a good sour is hard to find. Good luck!

Yes, it sold out quick. In my mind one of the main reasons was, it was out during the GTOM here in Madison. Lasted about 2 weeks, where these are usually available for months.

Not sure how to say this without looking like I'm solely trying to inflate the trade value of this, but I'll give it a try.

FWIW, there isn't another brewery that I am aware of that would release an excellent 4-pack of a sour ale that took them a year and a half to brew at $10 a 4 pack. Also, this isn't a traditional seasonal, as Dan Carey brews and releases what he wants. This may not come out again for years (likely), or possibly ever (somewhat less likely).

Certainly not trying to say this should trade for anything crazy. Guess I'm just trying to say respect the quality of the beer you're receiving and what the person trading it to you is giving up. I know many WI folks, myself included, love how New Glarus takes care of the supporters, but it also sometimes drives us a little nuts trading a couple 4-packs of an excellent beer for one bomber from elsewhere.

I'm done with my emotional little speech, time for another beer.

thebigredone put it well. I bought about 3 cases fully intending to drink most of it because my recent love of sours has caused me to start going broke. I figured the best way to prevent that was to buy a ton of this super delicious and reasonably priced sour. I made a few smaller trades for things I normally wouldn't end up being able to get but the trades were only in person with people vising Madison from out of town or in another case the other BA agreed to pay for shipping of an entire case of Berliner and Wild Sour.

I wasn't really planning on trading much more but then I saw this today.

Let's just say I just agreed to trade a case of Wild Sour.

While it was on the shelf for a couple weeks, it disappeared faster than any NG Thumbprint I've ever seen and it's not known if/when it will be made again.

I saw that as well but did not think it was enough for me to part with a whole case.
