Sweet Jesus, this thread really panicked me I just ran out and bought what I think may be the last case from Discount in Waukesha. Phew.

Both Discount locations have been out since last week. How did you just get this now?

Guess I was lucky. Two 4-packs off the New Glarus metal shelf, three out of the cooler at the Waukesha location. That was all I saw.

Just speculating, perhaps they had a case someone forgot about?

Hopefully the high demand for this will ensure there is a new supply next year.

Didn't it take like 2-3 years to make this beer?

That would be impressive. I thought it was more like 1 year.

Well it sat in oak barrels for 18 months. I would think about 20 months total. I'm sure Dan already has something else to surprise us that is already aging in barrels.

    Apple ale is dangerously good.

Yes it is! I noticed a big difference between last year's batch (winter 2012) and the previous year (winter 2011). I much preferred the batch from two years ago. I mentioned that to Dan and he said it's not the first time he has heard that, and he agrees. Apparently they changed the recipe last year to get more of a "green apple candy" flavor, whereas the previous batch had more of an authentic apple...almost cider flavor to it. He said the plan is to keep producing the newer recipe as that's what Deb prefers the beer to be, but he said he would consider making two different Apple Ales in the future to be able to have both recipes available.

I thought last year's apple ale tasted very cider-y now with a year of age on it, in a great way. 2011 I felt like aged poorly, as the case I bought slowly developed a grainy flavor that can only be described as a miller lite-like finish. I really need to update my review to reflect the new stuff

I've got nearly a case of last year's left, and it's drinking awesomely.
