As for Kona, re you talking about the Craft Brew Alliance? I noticed they are suspiciously located in towns that all have a little something to do with AB In-Bev...(from Wikipedia)

It looks more mainstream. Maybe they think they're better off competing with bud light rather than craft brewers. You could have told me that's Bud LIght Platinum and I would've believed you.

Kona is a brewery and brand wholly-owned by Craft Brew Alliance. That is not the same arrangement as Diageo contracting the brewing of some of the Harp exported to the US to the Canadian brewery Moosehead, using the dba of "Guinness Brewing Co.".

Boston Beer Co. current brews most of their beer in-house.

Hi, folks. New member here. Harp seems to have shifted its North American brewing to New Brunswick a few years ago, and then switched it back to Ireland in the last few months. Am I wrong? Also, the stores in my area (NYC and New Jersey) suddenly can't get it at all, for the last three weeks. Do any other Harp fans out there have any information?
    Thanks

Try emailing Diageo/Guinness in the US at [email protected] or 203-229-2100 (they used to list a toll free number on labels 866-311-6975 - not sure if it's still working).

A little late to the game here, and I have no answers, but.... Harp isn't even mentioned on either the Diageo or the Guinness websites any longer. I haven't seen any news published about the brand since their packaging revamp a couple years ago. Has it just been quietly discontinued in the US / CAN?

Well, it's still here on a not too impressive page - HARP

And mentioned in the 2016 Diageo Annual Report pg 29 :

The old label was nice looking. Now the packaging and the beer are of the same quality. Feh.

Yeah, the bottle I had at the Old Chicago the other day said brewed in Ireland.

    BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!

Looks like I jumped the gun on deleting that image of both current Harp labels (who knew that nearly 2 years later, there'd still be a controversy :grinning:).

So, for those interested - or, like me, just annoyed when an image disappears.

    Here's some Harp trivia:

In late 1964, a little over a year after being introduced in the northeastern US, Guinness-Harp claimed it was already the fourth largest selling import. (So, behind Lowenbrau, Heineken and -- that's a good question for 1964).

Early US promotional material for Harp noted that it used California-grown hops.
