What are the best places in the New Haven area to get fresh juicy NEIPA cans? Best beer and food spots? Many thanks for some local knowledge...Bill
Beer collective best list in town, often has fox farm and Kent falls NEIPA, prime 16 also has a great IPA tap list and has awesome happy hour deals, though not all of the more sought after beers qualify, then there’s cask republic which has a very solid tap list though has less of the really sought after stuff. For stuff to go, New England brewing company makes great IPAs though they’re more of the New England IPA 1.0 style than the crazy juicy haze bombs. Counterweight makes very good more modern New England IPAs. Hope that helps
And Amity Wine and Spirits for cans to take home that you don’t get in NY, it’s right around the corner from NEBCO
The Beeracks is in North Haven and they usually have a wide selection of cans to go but I second Nebco and Counterweight as go to spots
I think everyone else has covered the absolute best spots. I'd add if you want New Haven pizza, I'd probably recommend Modern first for the combination of food/efficiency/draftlist; they usually have Counterweight and NEBCO available. Sally's has craft lines now too and the best pie IMO, but shorter hours and generally longer waits to get a table (and I'll forever unfairly compare it to the glorious months last year when they were BYO).
Yalers love to get messed up. Fun campus to check out, and the parties are insane. Played beer baseball once, but I kind of don't remember the rules because it involved drinking a lot of beer after learning them....
