There are two relatively new microbreweries in the area. Each one has some issues.

One is doomed. Not one single good beer. After two years waiting for the grand opening - my family went once. It tasted like someone just wanted a microbrewery - but forgot about the most important part: beer.

The second brewery opened in Hermitage, PA. The beers were better, however, all of them had a common taste. I remember a friend of mine was into home brewing. He used well water and it all had a common taste, sulphur water. So you kind of had to "taste through" the water.

That is what this new brewery is like. The IPA is close to being good. It just tastes like the other beers. What causes that? Is it the water? Is it a common ingredient? Is it a common sanitation issue?

house yeast is going to impart more flavor than the water profile..

not sure what part of PA you are in, but if it's NEPA, then welcome to methhead, half assed, ceiling tile, brew house city. Also notable for the worst third tier distributors in the the entire state.

    Nobody there takes beer seriously.

No, I'm not from that area. But thanks for that random info.

I think it was the yeast. It had to be. It all left the same taste in your mouth.
