Anyone else annoyed when a happy hour special clearly states all domestics are "cheaper," but you know the domestic you are about to order is not cheaper for happy hour? Can't we just start annoying the restaurants telling them to say "All Macros" or "All BMCs" are on the happy hour special? I think BA is big enough now where we can make this happen. Craft beers are domestics damn it. Bobbyearl
I let my wallet do the talking. One place said domestics $3 during happy hour, so I decided to have three SNPA's. When the bill came, I was charged full price. I asked to talk to manager. He informed me that SN was not domestic. After informing him that it was brewed in Chico CA, he said,"oh no, thats craft. Craft is full price." Needless to say, I have not nor will I ever be back. Staying on topic, they probably wouldn't know what we are talking about. We would probably just get a deer in the headlights look from them. Salud!
It's worthwhile to at least attempt a new movement on a daily basis. Why not give it a try locally first?
This is nothing new -- I can remember going into bars back in the late 90s when they had "Domestic Sales" and asking for a Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada at the special price. No way. What? California isn't in the U.S. anymore? I think there's some language bars speak that differentiates between domestics and premiums. Jess Kiddin has extrapolated on this in the past.
I was at a bar that had discounted buckets of domestics, so I ordered Blue Moon. Of course it wasn't discounted, and when I asked they said it just counted towards Miller, Bud, and Coors products. I had fun trying to explain that Blue Moon IS a Coors product but of course still had to pay full price.
We all know what they will do, but if we are just annoying and explain this brewery is here and this brewery is owned by "them," they might just change it, and once several restaurants change it even more will start to do it. It was just a 4 hours of sleep after a tasting early morning rant. ha
They say we are a litigious society and this is something that, chances are, would need to be brought before a judge for false advertising or something like that. If it's brewed in this country it's domestic and bars that either don't know the difference or don't care or don't recognize that there's something else out there besides BMC that's domestic need to be educated.
