Anyone get newsletter? CBC Flower Child and North Coast/Rogue Collab for Julio's Class of 88 Barleywine. Both retired beer now making presence known again?
Flower Child has just now been released in bottle format. Not sure about the other, mainly because I'm not interested since it has Rogue attached to it (sorry!).
OK flower child is designates as retired on this site and if you look up class of 88 its a collaboration that Julio's brought back.
Sorry typing on phone sucks. Flower Child seems to be a previously retired beer. Class of 88 looks like a Deschutes beer that Rogue and North Coast re-did for Julio's. I could be wrong about both. So anyone with more knowledge chime in
retired? Don't believe everything you read here. I was at the Julio's beer tasting event where (I believe) it was Will Meyers pouring the CBC beers. I mentioned how i love the Flower Child–just tasting it the nite before–and Will mentioned how it was their spring IPA and now the Spring Training IPA will be replacing that. Not eliminating it, just moving it so Spring Training can step in as the next seasonal. (I really miss the Big Man ALe which was their winter IPA) Don't know the Class of 88.
Flower Power is an IPA that is brewed by CBC, this is the first time that it has ever been bottled, and it was just very recently bottled. It might have been listed as retired, because CBC does not have a regular annual schedule of their beer releases, so it was probably just mislabeled, but it is a fresh bottle. The class of 88 is a collaboration brew to commemorate the three brewers that started in 1988 - it is a barleywine that was launched this March, so that one might actually be too fresh! http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/sites/default/files/Barley_Wine_Classof88.pdf
Thanks for info. Not too impressed with CBC IPAs so I will pass. Big Man IPA was ok, and spring training did not seem worth it. Class of 88 sounds interesting. At least enough to buy a bottle and forget about it for a year or two. Deschutes makes good stuff so does North Coast and Rogue is ok but 10% 70 IBU Barleywine is always worth it if price is right
No problem. I would say that Flower Power is probably CBC's better IPA (I have only had it on draft on premise). They call the Big Man a winter IPA that has more malt flavor than traditional IPAs, and to me, Spring Training has a milder hop profile, enjoyable beer, but will not wow you. My favorite CBC bottle has been Audacity of Hops - their belgian IPA - but even this is better on draft.
Drinking a Flower Child now. Very, very delicious!! This is the first IPA from CBC I've enjoyed. I'm glad I tried it.
Flower Child is CBC's best IPA IMHO. Not one to sleep on. This one probably has the most hop flavor and aroma of all their hoppy beers.
I've been watching for the Flower Child in bottles but haven't found any yet. I thought the Spring Training was great, though the perfumy floweriness on my palate kept me from having more than one at a sitting.
