    Hello,

Coming to Philly this weekend. Been there several times, but not in last 2 years so my research is outdated. I am looking for new bars or new breweries that might not have been on the radar 2 years ago. I know about Tired Hands, Crime and Punishment, and Forest and Main. Especially interested in anyone doing wilds/sours and IPAs with a more tropical profile.

    Thanks in advance

2nd Story Brewing in Old City generally fits what you are looking for. Another new place in Philly is Bar Hygge/Brewery Techne (the same people behind Earth Bread & Brewery).

If you are willing to hike it to the sticks, these two breweries are close to one another:
Hidden River Brewing in Douglasville and Stickman Brewing in Royersford

I will second 2nd Story, always enjoy their stuff.

This thread happened last year, a lot of it still holds true: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/best-new-places-in-philly.243848/

For bars, check out The Cambridge, Fountain Porter, and Bainbridge Street Barrel House, all of which have been making their mark more in the last couple years as I understand it. All well-curated tap lists with a great mix of locals and some great Philly Distro. Be warned that Fountain Porter is a bit out of the way, has no working phone, and doesn't update their tap list as frequently, but you're not likely to be disappointed whatever their list happens to be.

As is obligatory in all of these threads, check out phillytapfinder.com and follow the @PhillyTapFinder twitter account for events, beers, and notable tappings. And if you happen to be staying into next week, all the better - there are a ton of events going on for the Craft Brewer's Conference that's hitting the city.

Bit of a random thought, but Singlecut Beersmiths out of Queens has started hitting the area more lately, with a handful of tappings and some bottle shop availability - have to assume they don't distribute to Illinois, and if you're looking for tropical IPAs, few are doing it better these days. Keep an eye out.
