I will be in New Orleans this week and was curious about what gets distributed here, and what bars/breweries to check out. I know about Nola already. Cheers!
NOLA always has cool stuff on tap in the tasting room so even if you have had their flagships, go see the brewery!
Here is a short list of beer companies that get distributed here: Abita NOLA brewing company Sweetwater Terrapin Lazy Magnolia Founders Green Flash Stone Saint Arnold Tin Roof Parish Brewing Co. Sierra Nevada Rouge Unibroue Wasatch New Belgium Magic Hat Brooklyn Hope this helps, I left out a few but they will be harder to find and most of these can be picked up at Rouses or Wholefoods. Also left out imports (all are American except for Unibroue). I know this thread was posted forever ago. This is to help anyone who might be visiting. Since I live in New Orleans and frequently buy craft beer around the area these are the companies that are sold in various stores around the area.
Avenue Pub is definitely the best beer bar in the city. A close second is Cooter Brown's. They also have really good food. Crescent City Brewhouse is decent, do a flight. If you're sticking to the French Quarter, my absolute FAVORITE place in the Quarter is the Ole Saint. This place is amazing. It's more of a locals spot, which is great, and they have 50+ craft beers on tap. And the best part is, you can get a 32oz beer of your choice (yes, that's ANY BEER ON TAP!) for $10 on Saturdays and Sundays. Great selection of local brews. It's located at 132 Royal in the French Quarter. If you want to buy your own beer, go to Rouse's, they all have a good selection.
