I'll be traveling though New Orleans in March and am looking for a recommendation for a restaurant that serves good Cajun/creole but also has a solid tap list. I've searched this site, google, ect. and am having a hard time finding a restaurant that has both, so any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just enjoy the food then go to a brewery or bottle shop after. Plenty of amazing restaurants here.

Cochon is a great place to eat.

Yep, came here to recommend Cochon; they usually have a solid list of local craft, and the food is great. Eat there, then walk down to Courtyard Brewery and/or Avenue Pub afterwards.

Are they remodeling or is this their first true “taproom”? I was walking there yesterday but got sidetracked by Peche and never made it. I was going to walk down there today but if it’s not open to the public I’d save myself some time (and disappointment).

Also going to Cochon tonight. Can’t wait.

For the OP: We ate at Cafe Amelie last night in the courtyard. Great food and atmosphere. They didn’t have a killer beer list but they did have a few good options. I had Parish Envie - it was really tasty.

Just making a note here that Courtyard is open again in the new location. I don't know how many taps they are planning to have, but they're doing a soft opening and have ten of their own beers available. Definitely check with them about hours, but seems like it might still be a possibility for your upcoming trip, @beeragent.

One suggestion that comes to quickly comes to mind would be to head to Jacques-Imos on Oak Street. It's definitely one of the better creole spots in the city (order the alligator cheesecake appetizer!). There's usually a wait (they don't take reservations for smaller parties) and while they do have a couple local beers, I believe they'll take your number and give you a call when they're close to ready so you can head a few doors down to Ale On Oak which has a much more expansive tap list. Head to Maple Leaf Bar (also on Oak) afterwords for some music and you've got a pretty good NOLA night!

If you can't get into Jaques-Imos, or just don't feel like waiting, you can give Down the Bayou a try. It's only a block or two away, is a bit more modern/upscale take on Cajun food and they take reservations.

I have another idea: Bayou Beer Garden in mid-city often has crawfish boils during the weekends this time of year. They've got a super chill outside area to relax and and a relatively large selection of beer on tap and in cans. It's also connected to Bayou Wine Garden in case you have people in your group who don't drink beer.

So, it looks like we'll be eating at Mulate's. Since I lost the restaurant choice (to my wife), what's the best bottle shop around for me to get the best local offerings?

I'm not excited about any of the bottle shops around Mulate's, either in the CBD or French Quarter. My mainstay is Stein's Market and Deli down in the Garden District. 504 Craft Beer Reserve is also good, but that's an extra couple miles away compared to Stein's.

We’re actually going to have lunch at Stein’s, and I was assuming that was the best bottle shop in the area, based on the reviews on this site. Thanks!

When you go to Stein's, make sure you walk past the coolers and visit the back room. You can buy anything as a single, and there's usually a small discount for buying 12 or 24 total.

I highly recommend Cooter Brown's on Carrolton and Leake. Great Po-Boys and bottle/draft selection.
